WWE Clash In Paris 2025 Results & Reactions: Becky Lynch Helps Seth Rollins Retain
Joe Camporeale-Imagn Images

The “Clash in Paris” PLE was live from the Paris La Defense Arena in front of what was the most audacious wrestling crowd in the 2025 calendar. It was beneficial for WWE to be touring in front of the ruckus EU fanbase when the news of the ESPN deal and Peacock renewal (for Saturday Night’s Main Event only) ‘hit print.’ The best crowds helped to amplify WWE’s current position as the global leader in sports entertainment.

However, the fandom turned problematic during fight week as episodes of ‘fan swarming’ started to surface. The Sheamus and CM Punk videos are mild compared to what happened to Rhea Ripley when she was suddenly cornered by a majority of adult male crowd just as she arrived at her car. Ripley shared her discontent on social media about fans ‘treating them as animals’ and abandoning decorum for the sake of a selfie.

With Post Malone and WWE celebrity alumni Jelly Roll in attendance ahead of their Wednesday concert in the same venue, the energy was off the charts and it would remain that way throughout the evening with Michael Cole celebrating his place on The New York Times’ list of most impactful ‘TV sports voices’ in the 21stcentury (his former colleague Jim Ross was also included on the list). This was the final PLE under the Peacock deal before they transition to ESPN in two weeks.

John Cena vs. Logan Paul

Result: Cena wins

This was going to be the night that WWE fully realized Logan Paul’s ceiling and whether or not he has long-term appeal in this sport at the highest level. Up until now, Paul has passed nearly every test in the form of feuds with the likes of Rey Mysterio, AJ Styles, and Roman Reigns, to name a few. Tonight, though, is the first time Logan will be wrestling a ‘Mount Rushmore’ level superstar at a time when the stakes are at their highest and the spotlight is at its brightest.

The crowd went absolutely nuts for John Cena from the moment the first note of his iconic entrance music hit, and the Parisian fans maintained their rowdiness for the entire contest. Logan did his best to gain as much heat early on as he could, playing his part perfectly in the match’s first quarter.

Logan and Cena worked well together as the ‘YouTuber’ was able to keep pace with the record-breaking superstar’s repertoire of legendary moves, while John worked just as well when challenged by Paul’s quick style.

An unexpected problem did occur in the match, however, when Paul was busted open. With the optics of blood smearing his usually polished face and fighting through the pain, it was almost as if Paul was geared for a face turn (he wasn’t). The near-falls, the reversals, and the pacing all hit the marks as if Cena were working with a veteran for whom he has always enjoyed great chemistry. Cena would go on to win the match clean, and if there was one real problem with the match, it was that it probably should’ve closed the show—very few title matches could have stood against this one match in this one location.

Seth Rollins(c) vs. CM Punk vs. Jey Uso vs. LA Knight—WWE Heavyweight Title (Fatal 4-Way)

Result: Rollins wins

The major storyline concerning the rest of Seth Rollins’ faction, known as ‘The Vision’, played out earlier in the night (READ BELOW, see: ROMAN V REED) as Breakker and Reed were barred from the building under threat of suspension—meaning they could not be a factor in the main event. The other development from earlier in the night concerned Jey’s taped-up ribs, as he was made to pay for attempting to help Roman in his post-match beatdown, which lowered his odds of winning the title tonight.

Still, with all the plotline developments earlier in the PLE, the vibe felt like we could potentially reveal a ‘new’ member of Seth’s faction—there are plenty of heel-teasing faces to choose from in 2025. It was weird seeing Seth without Heyman and co. ringside, but it gave credence to the idea of a championship title change.

LA Knight and Jey were both put in the ‘overcome’ position, and the crowd reacted well, but Punk was the favorite of the fans to take home the gold. Jey sold the injury well, and his place as an underdog was cemented in the match, but in a four-way, it is tough to remain enduring. Eventually, Knight was taken out with a missed elbow drop onto the commentator’s table while Jey was just kept on the receiving end of finishers and feature moves.

In the climax, it seemed like CM Punk would take the match after clearly taking the momentum, and he had Rollins on his back as he passed out into the GTS position. Rollins was able to survive, and with Punk on his back, the champ started screaming into Punk’s face how much he hates him and his ‘stupid family.’

Seth set up the steel chair for a curb stomp, but Punk was able to regain enough strength to reverse positions as he hoisted up Seth on his shoulders. He was in prime position to win, but then a hooded figure entered the ring to deliver a low-blow to Punk. Punk dropped Rollins, who then hit Punk with the stomp onto the steel chair for the pinfall victory after it was revealed that Becky Lynch, Seth’s wife and the mother of his kids, was under the hood.

Rollins successfully defended his title and added another member to ‘The Vision.’ What has to be highlighted is the mention of Punk’s family as Lynch enters the fray, and with many rumors that AJ Lee is planning a return to the ring, this could all be setting up a mixed tag match (something WWE has flirted with more this year than any other recently) between husbands and wives.

Roman Reigns vs. Bronson Reed

Result: Reigns wins

In his 13-year career with the company, Reigns has mostly main evented PLEs he was part of, but tonight marked his third time opening a weekend event this year. The match’s placement was strategic on multiple fronts. First, the crowd was lit like a Black Cat firework from the jump, and this ‘big boy’ action was the perfect style to pump the crowd.

It was a very good match with beefy spots and power sequences, and Roman Reigns took the victory off the spear after Reed reversed Roman’s signature move earlier in the match. The finish made sense, and so did the post-match beatdown with Breakker involving himself after Roman slapped a guillotine on Paul Heyman (reportedly rushed to the hospital following Roman’s revenge).

This was essentially a two-segment booking in a single match, as the actual bout represented the first wave of storytelling, until the post-match beatdown took place (it lasted nearly half as long as the match itself). Breakker got the jump on Roman after delivering a devastating spear out of nowhere, and when it seemed like Roman would get off lightly, Breakker took his ‘running start’ and delivered an even more destructive spear.

The finish was awesome, though the segment ran longer than it probably should have, and it effectively ‘wrote Roman off’ for a while (likely to finish filming his part in the upcoming “Street Fighter” film). We have seen Reed write off wrestlers with a bevy of Tsunami splashes from the top turnbuckle, but they took Roman’s to another level as repeated Tsuanmai’s led to the medial staff intervening. They set Roman on the stretcher and strapped him down (very typical of paramedics for heavier patients), and that is when Reed ran back to the ring to deliver another Tsunami on Roman at his most vulnerable.

Jey tried to help, and he would end up leaving a piece of himself in the ring for his effort, thus softening him up for the main event—possibly all part of the plan. After the mayhem concluded, RAW GM Adam Pearce, sweating and shouting, kicked 2/3 of The Vision out of the building, warning them that they would be ‘suspended without pay’ if they returned.

Becky Lynch(c) vs. Nikki Bella

Result: Becky retains

Nikki Bella was likely booked with other plans in mind when she was originally brought back ahead of the sequel to the 2018 all-women PLE: Evolution, but Liv Morgan’s injury destroyed whatever plans. It took a while for creative to find their sweet spot with the superstar that was part of the roster when the “Diva” term was terminated. Nikki and Becky’s promos have been very good over the past few weeks in the lead-up to this match.

Nikki was responsible for a significant portion of the offense and controlled the action with her impressive strength, but ultimately, the match was the best representation of Nikki’s latest booking. The Bella Twin would end up getting snatched up for a crucifix pin for the win. Nikki was certainly rusty, and there were a couple of spots where she just couldn’t find the timing, but she came to WWE to do the job, and that’s what she did.

Wyatt Sicks(c) vs. Street Profits—Tag Team Titles

Results: Wyatt Sicks retained

The Street Profits came out in masks promoting the Borderlands 4 video game, set for release in September, but their entrance played out very goofy. WWE has never been able to successfully book ‘spooky’ with non-spooky, and in this case, with top talents, it was still a mess. The tag team division on the blue brand was inspired in 2024 as teams like Motor City Machine Guns and Fraxiom entered the fold, but the introduction of the Wyatt Sicks onto SmackDown and their subsequent tag team title win has ruined the pure and competitive tag team division that thrived before the Summer.

This match highlighted the problems of trying to match opposing styles and gimmicks, and even with one of the most athletically gifted teams in wrestling, the opponents never found their chemistry on that next level. It was a great match, but it was booked to be silly with Nikki Cross under the ring, grabbing feet like ‘The People Under The Stairs.’ The Wyatt Sicks retained the titles in a match that could have set the stage for a potential singles run for Montez Ford.

Sheamus vs. Rusev—Donnybrook Match

Result: Rusev wins

The feud that nobody got behind and ended up turning fans’ interests in Rusev wound up being a BANGER. Nobody understood the logistics of a Donnybrook match that separates it from a plain ol’ hardcore match, but we knew there would be cains and barrels of whiskey. The match was hard fought, and between stiff offensive sequences and Sheamus dropping Rusev onto two “Slim Jim” tables from the top of whiskey barrels, the fans in attendance and at home were treated to a terrific change of pace match at the perfect time in the card.

The only criticism was the finish, as Rusev won despite the fans being fully in the camp of Sheamus. In fact, Sheamus landed a ‘Brogue Kick’ that connected heel-to-head and sent the fans screaming for the finish. The fans started a ‘soccer chant’ with a mini mosh pit as Sheamus zoned in for the win, but Rusev’s win completely deflated the crowd.

It was not that the booking was bad because the point was to get Rusev heat, and there’s no better way than to beat the guy everyone in the building wants to win, but the WWE fandom does not care about Rusev one way or the other. They can boo or they can cheer, but the worst thing is when they don’t care either way.
