The last stop before WrestleMania is upon us. Chicago has been preparing for WWE to hit their town, and the world is watching. Elimination Chamber is one of the most anticipated shows of the year. The landscape for WrestleMania becomes clear, and new number one contenders are determined as the massive 10 tons of steel are paraded into the United Center.
WWE has four matches planned for the evening, with the two Chamber matches and two championship contests on the docket. It will be a night of jockeying for position as wrestlers attempt to position themselves ahead of WrestleMania. The only question that remains, as we head into Elimination Chamber, is who will be walking out of Chicago victorious? There are only four wrestlers who can claim victory after the PLE has finished, and below are the predictions of who they will be.
The issues between Becky Lynch and A.J. Lee run deep. They have taken up the angle that began between their husbands and made it their own. There is a deep-seated hatred that oozes out of every promo that has taken place. These are two main event talents elevating the Women’s Intercontinental Championship. It has been fantastic seeing these two women hold the world in the palm of their hands.
It will be interesting to see how this match unfolds. A.J. Lee hasn’t worked a singles match in over a decade, and there will be no way to hide the ring rust. Luckily, the chemistry between her and Becky Lynch should blanket any problems that will arise with match quality. This should be an unexpectedly entertaining match featuring two of the best.
A.J. Lee has managed to get the upper hand on Becky Lynch throughout their program. It has been rather one-sided as of late, and that is not a great way to keep this program going. It would be best for business to have Lynch get the win here. Having her cheat to win will tie the score up between these two women and set up the rubber match at WrestleMania.
Winner: Becky Lynch
CM Punk and Finn Balor have done an admirable job of working through this stopgap angle. Their initial World Championship match was fantastic, and there is no doubt that they will turn in another amazing performance on Saturday.
The build towards this match has been less about CM Punk and more about Finn Balor and the Judgement Day. Punk has been masterful at weaving the story of Balor’s cohorts bringing him down. A thought that many of us have had multiple times over the past few months.
It’s planting the seeds of doubt in the longevity of the group and helps to set up a potential ‘Mania showdown between former allies. This is also a great way to keep interest in a program that’s finish is pretty much determined before the match begins.
It’s hard to imagine this match going any other way than CM Punk retaining the championship. He and Roman Reigns have already been penciled in to main event WrestleMania; any other result would throw a wrench into WWE’s plans. They have been known to switch things up in the past, but it’s not going to happen in this match. CM Punk is going to retain in a potential 5-star classic.
Winner: CM Punk
Women’s Elimination Chamber Match: Tiffy Stratton vs Rhea Ripley vs Alexa Bliss vs Asuka vs Kiana James vs Raquel Rodriguez
With Liv Morgan officially choosing her WrestleMania opponent, we now know that the winner of this match will go on to face Jade Cargill at WrestleMania, opening up a plethora of opportunities. Between the two chamber matches, it’s safe to say that this one has more opportunities for any woman to take home the victory and head to WrestleMania.
We have a great variety of talent present in this Elimination Chamber. Alexa Bliss, Rhea Ripley, and Asuka give us the veteran presence needed, while Tiffy Stratton, Kiana James, and Raquel Rodriguez are the young stars ready to stir things up.
There are going to be a ton of intriguing matchups in this match, with each woman looking to make their mark. One can assume that we will see at least an amazing spot or two. Look for Tiffy Stratton to pull off a moonsault that has the Chicago crowd going nuts.
This is a hard match to predict. Tiffy Stratton is the only woman who has a recent history with Cargill, but each woman would be great in that role. Kiana James, Raquel Rodriguez, and Rhea Ripley would give us a power versus power matchup. Alexa Bliss and Asuka present a more David-versus-Goliath angle for WWE to play off of.
Any of them would be a great choice, but it’s WrestleMania and the big guns need to be brought out. Jade Cargill taking on Rhea Ripley for the strap is the big money program that would sell tickets.
Winner: Rhea Ripley
WWE has done a great job of setting up the present and future of the industry in this match. This is how these types of matches should be set up, giving the fans big-money matchups that have never been seen before. Hopefully, we get to see the young stars get their chance to shine, which shouldn’t be hard considering the veterans in the match are some of the best-selling wrestlers that WWE has to offer.
Elimination Chamber matches are known for the big spots, and WWE has loaded this match with the men capable of doing so. Je’Von Evans is a human highlight machine, and giving him the chamber to work off of is only going to create wonderful chaos.
Then there is Jey Uso and Trick Williams, who are known to pull off some great high-flying moves themselves. These three men are going to wow the audience, but they will set the tone for the grounded violence from veterans Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and L.A. Knight. The mix of styles is exactly what this match needs.
This match is a three-horse race. Orton, Knight, and Rhodes are the men who have the most logical path to Drew McIntyre. Each one has a history with McIntyre, and all could tell a great story in the lead-up to WrestleMania. We are going to go with our heads instead of our hearts here and pick Cody Rhodes for the win. He, Jacob Fatu, and Drew McIntyre are the rumoured matchup for WrestleMania, and this is how they get there.
Winner Cody Rhodes
