Jey Uso may have come up short in his match against CM Punk at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event (October 1) but he has earned respect from a large section of fans following their battle. Jey lost in the main event as Punk became the new World Heavyweight Champion at Delta Center in Salt Lake City.
Jey has been a divisive figure this year, with some fans fully supporting him as a top talent after his run with the World Heavyweight Championship. But others have been less impressed with the 40-year-old, who has shown signs of a possible heel turn on recent episodes of RAW.
There was no such twist at SNME as Punk defeated Jey cleanly after a lengthy match that saw the Best in the World claim the gold for the second time this year. There was no Seth Rollins to cash in on this occasion and it's the Visionary of whom he replaces as new champion.

While fans have celebrated Punk's victory there are some highlighting Main Event Jey's performance on the night. One fan wrote:
"Side note: Jey Uso's best singles match EVER."
Another responded:
"Jey Uso gave everything tonight.... passion, energy, heart. He didn’t walk out with the title, but he walked out with respect from everyone watching. From being the twin in the background to standing toe-to-toe with the best in the world.... that’s growth, that’s legacy. This loss doesn’t define him. The story’s not over, it’s just getting started."
One added:
"Proud of you, Jey. What a performance. What a match. CM Punk is world champion."
A camera shot that showed Jey staring up at Punk during the title celebration didn't go unnoticed by fans. Some think it will be used once his villain arc begins:
"A picture that will absolutely be used in Jey Uso’s villain origin story."

Jey was involved in a new Bloodline saga before re-entering the world title picture last month, when Rollins was forced to vacate the championship. He was locked in a tense storyline with Roman Reigns and Jimmy Uso, and that will likely continue.
Reigns urged Jey to start thinking about himself more and that saw him eliminate Jimmy from a battle royal to determine Punk's opponent. Their issues will likely continue to grow and many predict it will eventually lead to Main Event Jey turning heel.
Jey won the Royal Rumble match earlier this year and defeated Gunther at WrestleMania to become world champion. He has proven a hit with the younger audience as evidenced by his impressive merchandise sale figures.
