Dark Side of the Ring has built its reputation on hard-hitting episodes that revisit the industry’s most controversial chapters. Now, a cryptic social media post suggests producers are turning their cameras toward WWE legend Big Boss Man—and the wrestling world is paying attention.

The Teaser From Dark Side Of The Ring

The teaser arrived via Instagram: A WWE Big Boss Man action figure bathed in flashing red and blue police lights, with film equipment visible in the frame. No official announcement followed, but for anyone familiar with how Dark Side of the Ring operates, the message was clear. Big Boss Man is likely getting a Dark Side of the Ring episode for Season 7.

Why Ray Traylor’s Story Matters

Ray Traylor’s career spanned two decades in professional wrestling. He started in the mid-1980s as Big Bubba Rogers, then evolved into the Big Boss Man. This character was perfect for him, including the gimmick, nightstick, handcuffs, and the entrance music. He worked high-profile feuds in WWE with Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, and countless others.

Although that Undertaker Hell in a Cell match has to be covered. Not only was the match terrible, but in the aftermath of Undertaker hanging the Big Boss Man with a noose on his neck in kayfabe. No, seriously, this actually happened at WrestleMania XV. Even looking back on it, that was so uncomfortable the moment it was done. The Attitude Era is the best era in WWE, but moments like that are in the lowlight category.

Traylor passed away in 2004 at the age of 41, and it stunned the wrestling community. The circumstances of his passing, horrendous storyline, combined with stories about his personal struggles and backstage relationships, make him a perfect Dark Side of the Ring topic.

What the Teaser Reveals About WWE Hall Of Famer

The Instagram story didn’t include an episode title or air date. What it did show was enough: production equipment in a controlled setting, deliberate lighting, and the unmistakable iconography of Big Boss Man. For wrestling media outlets, that was sufficient to report the likely focus. The series has a track record of teasing subjects this way, and the visual language matched previous rollouts.

Vice TV and the production team haven’t issued a formal press release yet. That’s consistent with how they’ve handled other episodes—building anticipation through social channels before delivering official details closer to air.

Community Reaction and Industry Impact

Dark Side of the Ring episodes often revisit painful moments, and that sensitivity toward family and colleagues matters. The series has a history of sparking difficult but necessary conversations about performer welfare, backstage culture, and how promotions handle personal crises. WWE hasn’t been painted great in these episodes for the most part.

For WWE and the broader wrestling industry, a Traylor episode could prompt renewed discussion. Past Dark Side of the Ring episodes have influenced public debate about accountability and policy. This one could do the same, even if people don’t come across well in the documentary.

Other Topics I Hope They Cover

There plenty of topics for them to cover for a Season 7 and onwards. In fact there have been rumors of the show doing an episode on both Trent Acid and Dennis Coralluzzo. Nothing confirmed, but it would not shock me if both get covered in the future.

Out of the bunch, the five episodes that I hope to see covered is the

  • Velveteen Dream
  • The Monsoon Family (Joey Marella & Gorilla Monsson)
  • JBL Bullying Scandals
  • Ashley Massaro
  • “Sweet and Sour” Larry Sweeney

Larry Sweeney is the one that I hope gets covered the most from the topics above. I was a big fan of his during his early Ring of Honor and Chikara days. He is one of the greatest what-ifs in pro wrestling, as Sweeney was the closest thing that wrestling ever got to a Bobby Heenan manager. He would have easily been a part of either AEW or WWE TV today.

What Comes Next

Expect an official announcement soon. Vice or the show’s social channels will likely release an air date, possibly accompanied by a trailer that offers more detail. Dark Side of the Ring has proven it can handle complex subjects with rigor and respect. A Big Boss Man episode would add depth to a story that deserves more than surface-level retelling.
