  • John Cena is very likely to headline the 2026 WWE Hall of Fame after his December retirement match.
  • He finishes his in-ring run Dec. 13 at Saturday Night’s Main Event after Survivor Series.
  • Induction likely timed for WrestleMania 42 weekend; possible inductors: Randy Orton, The Rock, AJ Styles.

John Cena may be gearing up for his retirement match in December, but it doesn’t look like the spotlight is fading anytime soon. Reports from Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Live suggest it’s “very likely” the 17-time World Champion will headline the 2026 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony.

Cena In The Hall Of Fame Makes Sense

WWE has not confirmed this theory, nor are they likely to before Cena's last match. However, that news could come quickly after he ends his in-ring run, with the news of his Hall of Fame induction being a marquee draw for the WrestleMania 42 weekend in Las Vegas.

Cena’s final run has been packed with big moments. Monday marked his last appearance on Raw as an active competitor, where he teamed with Sheamus and Rey Mysterio to pick up a win over Judgment Day’s Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor, and JD McDonagh. He recently captured the Intercontinental Championship from Dominik to complete the Grand Slam, and he’ll defend that title again at Survivor Series in San Diego.

Once Survivor Series wraps, he'll be heading to Washington, D.C. on Dec. 13, where Cena will compete in his final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event. His opponent will be determined by the Last Time Is Now tournament. These are the final competitive plans for Cena as he wraps up an in-ring career spanning over 20 years. That's something WWE will surely want to celebrate at the first possible moment, assuming Cena is available with his Hollywood schedule.

Cena will have been gone from WWE for a few months after Saturday Night's Main Event, but headlining in 2026 would cement the legacy of a man who wanted to say goodbye on his own terms.

Who Should Induct John Cena?

If Cena gets the 2026 Hall of Fame nod, the big question becomes: who inducts him? In any other time, the most obvious choice would be Vince McMahon. But, because of the controversy surrounding Vince and WWE's desire to dissociate with him, that's not in the cards. If it is, it certainly wouldn't be televised.

Another strong candidate is Randy Orton, Cena’s greatest rival and career-long parallel. Even The Rock could be an option, as might AJ Styles be. WrestleMania clashes. Whoever it is, the induction deserves someone who represents the magnitude of Cena’s impact.
