WWE Icon Predicts Drew McIntyre Will Lose His Title at WrestleMania 42
Drew McIntyre after winning the WWE Championship

Drew McIntyre looks set to be Undisputed WWE Champion heading into WrestleMania 42, but a WWE legend reckons he'll lose his title on the Grandest Stage of Them All. McIntyre defeated Cody Rhodes in early January to win the gold in a Three Stages of Hell match.

The Scottish Warrior has feuded with Rhodes since September, when they first locked horns at Wrestlepalooza. Recent reports suggest that the pair are expected to do battle once again for the title at Mania.

WWE Legend Predicts New Champion at WrestleMania

Rhodes seems hellbent on reclaiming the title after losing it in controversial fashion last month. He was distracted by Jacob Fatu, who returned during the third stage of the match and had initially targeted McIntyre.

Fatu and Rhodes have since been at loggerheads due to the Samoan Werewolf and The American Nightmare scrapping it out while McIntyre escaped the steel cage. Both could be participants in the Elimination Chamber, which grants its winner a world title match at the Show of Shows in April.

WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi has given his thoughts on SmackDown's world title picture on the Road to Mania. He gave an interesting prediction on his Off The Top podcast:

"I'm gonna go out on a limb; I don't know nothing ... I'm seeing Jacob versus Drew McIntyre for WrestleMania for the belt, and then the belt switches hands. He's in tip-top shape. His mind is clear. He's over that hump about, okay, I'm a WWE Superstar now."

The aforementioned report suggests WWE is pondering booking a triple threat match at Mania, with McIntyre defending his title against Rhodes and Fatu. All three have been at war as of late, and it makes sense given that fans are feeling slightly fatigued over the possibility of another singles match between McIntyre and Rhodes.

Jacob Fatu Should Pull Off a Shock WrestleMania Win

A triple threat is the best way to go as it keeps fans who want to see others handed opportunities happy. Rhodes hasn't been overwhelmingly popular with the audience as of late but he looks increasingly likely to be involved in the world title picture at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada.Fatu was on tear when he first arrived in WWE back in the summer of 2024, joining Solo Sikoa's Bloodline. He looked set for a high-profile feud against Roman Reigns but this didn't occur. The 33-year-old won the United States Championship last year but his push started to fade when he lost the belt. He was written off TV via a backstage attack to undergo dental work before returning in January.Fatu makes perfect sense to win his first world title at Mania and it would be a fresh direction for WWE to take. Perhaps Rhodes could spiral further into an anti-hero gimmick as a result of not only failing to win the match but also being the man who is pinned.
