The WWE King and Queen of the Ring premium live event (PLE) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia was special this year. In this case, storytelling in the ring to some degree in the three matches that featured female superstars. Championships and a crown on the line supplied plenty of excitement. That being said, let’s recap the three matches at the PLE.

Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill (c) vs. Candice LaRae & Indi Hartwell (WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship)

Here, WWE King and Queen of the Ring marked the first on-air title defense for Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill. The duo won the titles at Backlash France earlier this month from the Kabuki Warriors in a dominant showing. Belair entered this match with a clear injury to her leg that she suffered in the Queen of the Ring Tournament. This contest took place during the pre-show as the champions retained, once again showcasing their talents.

Without question, the finisher by Belair and Cargill on LaRae was unique and just plain cool. Take a look below:

Time will tell as to when Belair and Cargill will defend their gold again, maybe at the next PLE, WWE Clash at the Castle in Glasgow, Scotland next month.

Becky Lynch (c) vs. Liv Morgan (WWE Women’s World Championship)

As this title match kicked off WWE King and Queen of the Ring, it did not disappoint. The feud between Becky Lynch and Liv Morgan told a story as Morgan is on her self-proclaimed “revenge tour”. Both superstars found themselves in an over-15-minute match that was competitive. Toward the end, Dominik Mysterio appeared, seemingly preventing Morgan from winning the contest but that was not the case. Mysterio did everything possible, including tossing a steel chair into the squared circle.

It backfired as Morgan used the weapon to her advantage, becoming the new WWE Women’s World Champion. It is her first singles championship in her WWE career, adding another layer to her rivalry with former champion Rhea Ripley. Ripley is on the shelf due to an injury caused by Morgan.

Morgan was seen talking to Mysterio on Raw in April and his showing up adds to the speculation of an alliance. For Lynch, a rematch might be in her future soon as it’s uncertain what route she will be on.

Lyra Valkyria vs. Nia Jax (Queen of the Ring Final)

The final of this year’s Queen of the Ring Tournament was a tale of two superstars: Lyra Valkyria and Nia Jax. Valkyria recently made her debut on the main roster with a Cinderella-like run in the tournament. Jax took care of the business necessary and was viewed as a strong favorite. Despite the match being close to 10 minutes, both superstars made it competitive. In the end, Jax hit her finisher from the corner of the ring to become Queen Nia.

Nonetheless, the build over the next couple of months will be something to watch. Overall, the WWE King and Queen of the Ring PLE gave fans continuing and new storylines. We will see how things shake out moving forward.
