WWE legend breaks silence on Cody Rhodes using previously banned move to defeat Logan Paul at King and Queen of the Ring PLE
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Logan Paul and Cody Rhodes tore the house down in Saudi Arabia this week. They went toe to toe for the first time ever in a match for the Undisputed Championship. In order to keep each other down, the duo brought the best out of their arsenals. During the match, the American Nightmare decided to bring back a banned move, the Vertebreaker, from the history books to crush the Maverick for good.

Former WWE Superstar Hurricane reacted to Cody Rhodes executing this finishing maneuver in the match. He went on to claim that Rhodes has the perfect technique to deliver such a deadly move. The Undisputed Champion used the Vertebreaker in the closing moments of the match. However, the referee was down and couldn’t count the pin. Otherwise, it would’ve been curtains for Paul.

Perfect technique. Hurricane on X

For those unversed, the Vertebreaker was the finishing move of The Hurricane back in 2002. However, due to the chances of permanent damage to the neck of the opponent, WWE decided to ban the move in 2004. Despite that, it has been executed several times in the other promotions thereafter. The Undisputed Champion brought back such an iconic move, which once again highlights the wave of a new era in WWE.

All in all, getting appreciation from the veteran must mean a lot to the 38-year-old star. Interestingly, Hurricane Helms was later revealed to be the producer of the main event bout. It will be interesting to see if Rhodes is going to use this move on several occasions or if it is going to work as the ‘Mangekyo Sharingan’ for the American Nightmare.

Cody Rhodes gave Logan Paul props after King and Queen of the Ring went off air

The King and Queen of the Ring PLE ended last night with Cody Rhodes celebrating the win with the Saudi Arabian crowd. It was a pretty wholesome moment to see the American Nightmare sharing his triumph with his fans at the Jeddah Superdome. Although the cameras were off, the Undisputed Champion had some choice of words for the fans and even for his opponent, Logan Paul.

Rhodes took to the microphone to express his love for his fans. He went on to appreciate the Maverick for such an incredible showing and a tough fight, while the crowd gave a round of applause to the Social Media Megastar. Nonetheless, the 38-year-old also praised the crowd in Jeddah for their enthusiasm and promised that he couldn’t wait to be back there.

Incredible showing by United States Champion Logan Paul. Well, this is it for now, I cannot wait until I see you all again. God bless you guys, thank you all very much. Take care of each other, have a goodnight, I love you all Cody Rhodes

The WWE Universe in Saudi Arabia was backing the two-time Royal Rumble winner throughout the match. It shows the superstardom Dusty Rhodes‘ son has achieved. Furthermore, it establishes him as a future Hall of Famer. However, that is the case for the future. Rhodes still has many hurdles to overcome, as he shared in his first reaction after the show.
