WWE’s Road to Wrestlemania is becoming predictable, and that is fine. You know why that means the product is in a good place where fans can see what is coming.
For example, Australia’s Elimination Chamber PPV is a PPV, not a PLE. You knew the outcomes of the matches before they even happened. Entering the Elimination Chamber, as Full Press Wrestling documented and put on the betting odds, Drew McIntyre would win the men’s match, and Becky Lynch would win the women’s match.
That is precisely what happened. Why? It is because of how Triple H was building their stories on Raw and Smackdown. It made no sense for anyone but Drew McIntyre to win the Men’s Elimination Chamber match. He has been in promos with Seth Rollins, discussing the World Heavyweight Championship spot. Now, was this supposed to be McIntyre’s time? No. It was CM Punk’s time.
But Punk is out with an injury, and McIntyre took the ball and is running with it. Drew is playing the heel character perfectly. His witty comments on Twitter and his segments on Raw are exactly what his character needed. Now, he is in a position to win a championship in front of thousands of people. He deserves that moment after being the pandemic champion.
Other feuds were also set up for Wrestlemania in the Men’s Chamber match: Randy Orton and Logan Paul for the US Title. Paul and Kevin Owens could also face off. Not to mention, matches like AJ Styles and LA Knight were also set up for Wrestlemania.
Then we have Becky Lynch winning the Women’s Chamber match. Lynch set up a program with Rhea Ripley at the Wrestlemania 40 Press Conference. So it made sense that Becky would finally get her singles match at Wrestlemania. Remember, she main-evented Wrestlemania 35 and won two belts, but it has been a while since she had a singles match.
We knew Rhea Ripley was going against Nia Jax in the show’s main event. Becky Lynch made sure to comment about her win on her social media. Then, the two faced off on Raw. Things are leading to a great match.
The same goes for Bayley and IYO Sky. Bayley, the forgotten woman and the Royal Rumble Winner, had Dakota Kai turn on her on the latest episode of Smackdown. You knew this was coming, with Damage CTRL already beating up Bayley. Bayley went from the unlikeable heel to the over-babyface. She is going to win the title. Not to mention, she has allies with Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair. What a story they are telling.
Also, after Cody Rhodes called out The Rock for a match on Smackdown, the Great One proposed a Tag Team match. Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins will take on The Rock and Roman Reigns on Night 1 of Wrestlemania. If Rock and Roman Reigns win, Bloodline Rules for the Title Match on Night 2 of Wrestlemania. In addition, Cody can never challenge for the WWE Title again. If Rollins and Rhodes win, there will be No Bloodline at ringside for the title match.
We all saw this coming on the Road to Wrestlemania at the Wrestlemania 40 Press Conference. But again, predictability is good in wrestling. It makes you want the product and has you invested in the story, even though you may know the outcome. Again, things can go one of two ways on Night 1 of Wrestlemania. Do the babyfaces or the heels go over to set things up for Night 2, where more seeds could be planted for the Rock and Roman split?
And that split is coming as those seeds were planted. Again, predictability is good as it is making the Road to Wrestlemania better for the product and the fans.
