WWE NXT Star Has ‘Potential To Be A Booker T’ - Mark Henry Confuses Fans With Bold Claim
via WWE

Mark Henry has confused fans by suggesting NXT's fastest rising star Je'Von Evans has the potential to be "the next Booker T" despite the pair's contrasting in-ring styles. Evans has recently appeared on SmackDown and looks likely to earn a permanent spot on the main roster after only signing for WWE in February 2024.

Mark Henry Compares Je'Von Evans To Booker T

Je'Von Evans first debuted on SmackDown last week and answered Sami Zayn's United States Championship open challenge. He lost to Zayn but caught the eye with one of many impressive performances that have made him a fan favourite in NXT.

The 21-year-old then teamed with Rey Fenix and defeated Los Garza in a tag team match on Friday night (October 3). He has been described as an exciting talent by Mark Henry, who gave his thoughts on the young upcomer while appearing on Busted Open radio:

"Je'Von Evans is exciting. It's his energy, it's his expression. It's his ability to make you feel and that's just charisma, and an innate ability to make you care."

Henry spoke highly of Evans' future and made two interesting comparisons:

"He's got the potential to be a Booker T, a Sami Zayn... The future is really, really bright."

Evans is a high-flyer whose high-octane style has wowed fans ever since he arrived in WWE. It's a massive compliment to be tipped to become the next Booker T, given he's a two-time WWE Hall of Famer and former six-time world champion.

But fans question the comparison because of their contrasting in-ring styles, look and character work. It's one of several outlandish claims made by Henry who thinks Joe Hendry is a good candidate to retire John Cena.

"Is Mark Okay?" - Fans React To WWE Hall of Famer's Comments

Henry's assessment didn't go unnoticed by fans who feel there are other legendary WWE names more fitting for Evans to replicate. They alluded to his high-flying style, which isn't reminiscent of Booker T.

One fan wrote:

"What? Weird comparison He’s more Jeff Hardy than either one of those two."

Another added:

"Booker T and him are nothing alike. Is Mark okay?"

One sarcastically responded:

"Oh yess ahh Booker T one of my favorite high flyers of all time."

Another insisted Evans doesn't need to try and be anybody else:

"Naw he got potential to be him self."

Evans is just getting started in his pro wrestling career and has the opportunity to become TNA X-Division Champion on October 11th when he challenges Leon Slater for the title at Bound For Glory. But before that he'll be in action at NXT vs TNA Showdown on Tuesday when he competes in a four-on-four men's Survivor Series match.
