WWE NXT Vengeance Day is the second PLE offering of the year from the WWE and the first from the NXT brand. Six matches took place on the card, with three of them being for titles. One other major offering is the Dusty Rhodes Classic Tournament final match. The action began at 7 pm Eastern Time before the main show went live at 8 pm Eastern Time on Peacock (US) and the WWE Network (outside US).

Trick Melo Gang No More

It’s official – Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams‘ friendship has come to an end. With individual championship aspirations, the two imploded after weeks of teasing. The situation between the two has been quite tense, and it finally all boiled over. The Vengeance Day event was a crucial one for the best friends as both their individual and tag team goals overlapped in a way that threatened their friendship.

The two lost the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic final, and Williams was unsuccessful in his quest to claim the NXT Championship. Following that loss, Hayes viciously attacked Williams, thus ending the Trick Melo Gang. It can be expected that the pair will address the split on the February 6 edition of NXT.

Corbin And Breakker Become New Dusty Rhodes Classic Tournament Winners

As mentioned above, Hayes and Williams were not successful in the tournament. While this added more cracks to the Trick Melo Gang camp, Baron Corbin and Bron Breakker (or Wolf Dogs) benefitted from this event.

This pair got to be crowned as the newest Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament winners, thus etching their names into the history books. Breakker is expected to sign with either Raw or SmackDown soon, and it remains to be seen how this will impact their friendship, which seems only to have just been strengthened by the new gold in the Wolf Dogs arsenal.
