WWE reportedly lifts major ban involving Brock Lesnar amidst his hiatus
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Brock Lesnar has been absent from WWE since his last match against Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam last year. The WWE Universe is excited to see their beloved Beast Incarnate return to the squared circle. It appears that the Stamford-based company has reportedly taken a positive step towards making that happen.

According to several reports, WWE has lifted the ban on mentioning Brock Lesnar‘s name on TV programming. The news gathered from those in the company indicated they lifted it following Paul Heyman‘s Hall of Fame speech. Recently, legendary commentator Michael Cole also mentioned his name during the King and Queen of the Ring PLE.

Lesnar went on a break after suffering a loss to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam last year. He was supposed to make his return at the Royal Rumble PLE but was caught up in the controversy regarding Janel Grant‘s lawsuit against Vince McMahon . Following this, his relationship with the company worsened, and he was excluded from the WWE 2K24 video game.

He was spotted with his daughter in a candid moment nearly three months ago. Although Triple H clarified at the WrestleMania XL press conference that Lesnar wasn’t done with WWE, there are currently no signs of his return yet. However, lifting the ban on mentioning his name could open the door for his return to the company once again.

Speculation on when Brock Lesnar could return and potential opponents

With the news of lifting the ban on mentioning his name, fans can seriously hope to see him in the ring soon. Although his return date is not confirmed yet, he could make an appearance at a big event like SummerSlam later this year. The city of Cleveland will host the event on August 3.

One of the first people he could go after upon his return is the Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes himself. The duo was involved in an intense rivalry after WrestleMania 39 and had a trio of outstanding matches. Their rivalry ended with The American Nightmare standing tall and The Beast giving him his flowers. He could set his sights on the big gold title and return with vengeance in mind toward the champ.

Another person fans are eager to see Brock Lesnar face in the ring is Gunther. The two heavyweights did have a face-off in the 2023 Royal Rumble, but before they could properly engage, Bobby Lashley soon eliminated The Beast. The Ring General has called him the final boss of WWE and has expressed his desire to fight him one-on-one many times before.
