WWE Reportedly Planning Main Roster PLE to Go Head-to-Head with AEW All Out

According to POST Wrestling’s John Pollock and Brandon Thurston, WWE is planning a yet-to-be-announced premium live event for Saturday, September 20, in Indianapolis, Indiana. This is the same date AEW will run All Out at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena. While start times are not confirmed, this would mark the first time a WWE main roster PLE has aired on the same day as an AEW pay-per-view.

The timing would place the show between WWE Clash in Paris (Aug. 31) and Crown Jewel in Perth (Oct. 11), with Survivor Series (Nov. 29) the only other main roster PLE currently on the 2025 calendar.

This isn’t the first time the two companies have crossed schedules this year, but up until now, it has not been the main roster WWE. NXT Battleground ran against AEW Double or Nothing in May, and WWE’s Atlanta “takeover weekend” in July saw NXT Great American Bash go up against AEW All In: Texas. Later this month, NXT Heatwave will clash with AEW Forbidden Door on August 24.

AEW President Tony Khan was asked about WWE’s counter-programming tactics earlier this year by Mark Hoke at the post-Double or Nothing media scrum, where he gave a measured but sharp response. 

“It’s pretty consistent. I’d say it’s the most consistent event head-to-head scheduling I’ve seen since Jim Crockett Promotions saw a lot of scheduling that went that way. I can tell you this will go a lot differently than that did,” Khan stated.

Speculation is already circulating that the September show could be the return of WWE Bad Blood, last held in October 2024. That event featured Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns teaming to beat Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu, a Rock appearance to confront Rhodes, and CM Punk defeating Drew McIntyre in a Hell in a Cell Match, a match widely regarded as one of WWE’s best matches of the year.

While nothing has been confirmed as of yet, this indicates a potential step up in counter-programming from WWE, and it will no doubt be interesting to see what impact it could have.
