WWE Rumor Roundup: Oba Femi Addresses Brock Lesnar Match for WrestleMania 42

Oba Femi’s match against Rusev on the March 9 edition of WWE Raw was a warm-up.

For what? His rumored showdown with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42.

Lesnar returns to Raw next week live in San Antonio, Texas, one of WWE’s biggest markets. The card already features Lesnar and Roman Reigns , plus highly anticipated singles matches with AJ Lee vs. Bayley, and the El Grande Americanos facing off.

That makes it easy to imagine Femi accepting Lesnar’s open challenge on what will be an important edition of Raw on the Road to WrestleMania.

“It’s Going to Happen Soon” — Oba Femi on Lesnar

In a recent interview with TVInsider, Femi addressed the buzz around a potential match with Lesnar:

What a run for him. He had two separate runs, and they’ve both been fantastic. It would be really cool to face him. I know the fans have been asking for that match. It’s going to happen one day soon. What a run he has had: the UFC champion, multiple-time WWE champion, Royal Rumble winner, dominance. What a way to cap it off by facing ‘The Ruler.’

The comparisons between Lesnar and Femi come down to presentation. WWE has seen plenty of athletes their size, but few are showcased with this level of care—it’s clear the machine is behind Femi's success like it was with Lesnar in 2002.

So far, Femi has shown he has both the in-ring ability and charisma to back up the push.

WWE has teased a Lesnar-Femi encounter twice already:

  • Royal Rumble face-off — a brief but intense moment that saw Lesnar eliminate Oba.
  • Lesnar’s open challenge announcement — fans immediately chanted “Oba!” WWE heard the reaction, and now the company is in a corner to deliver.

At this point, any other opponent on the roster—past or present—risks feeling like a disappointment. Fans want one thing: “The Beast” vs. “The Ruler” in Las Vegas.
