In today's WWE and AEW news and rumors rundown, Is The Demon King making a return to WWE? The company seems to be teasing the idea and Balor's issues with Judgment Day open the door for a character change. Meanwhile, what is the plan for Randy Orton? Is he booked for WrestleMania? If so, what will he be doing? Finally, The Young Bucks might be teasing that two released stars from WWE could be headed to AEW. Would that open the door for an even bigger name to make a jump?

Here are your top news and rumors for February 26, 2025:

The Demon King Making A Return?

WWE Teased Big Finn Balor Change

Finn Bálor seems to have issue with Judgment Day recently, and recent speculation is that his storyline might lead to the return of a very popular character. This week’s Raw might have set the stage for a major character shift that could bring The Demon King back.

After Bron Breakker dominated Dominik Mysterio, Bálor showed up ready to attack. However, when he got caught by Breakker, Balor slid out of the ring, much like The Demon King slides around. However, that wasn't the most obvious hint. It was the backstage moment that caught the eye of fans. A Demon King logo flashed behind Balor in a backstage segment with the rest of Judgment Day. That couldn't have been a coincidence.

If WWE chooses to bring this version of him back, it could provide the boost he needs to re-establish himself as a credible threat and main-event babyface. With both Bálor and AJ Styles stepping up to challenge Breakker, it could make for an interesting Triple Threat Match for the Intercontinental Title. WrestleVotes reports that WWE has at least discussed the idea of Breakker defending his title in a multi-man match at WrestleMania.

They said:

“They’re tossing around a multi-man, as has become tradition at WrestleMania, whether it be the Intercontinental Title or Tag Team Titles last year. I’d be surprised if it wasn’t a multi-man type of match. Not saying there’s going to be a ladder involved, don’t know if that’s the direction they’re going, but I doubt it’s Bron Breakker vs. ‘X’ in a one-on-one match.”

Randy Orton Returning For WrestleMania?

No Current Plans For Him Creatively

According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, WWE wants Randy Orton involved in WrestleMania 41 but he hasn’t specifically heard of any particular plan for him just yet. Orton is a huge name and a big draw. He could realistically go up against anyone, but the most logical choice would be Kevin Owens. Owens will battle Sami Zayn at Elimination Chamber in Toronto on Saturday and Orton owes Owens some payback for the spike piledriver that took him out of action.

Where that would leave Sami Zayn for WrestleMania isn't clear. It's also unclear if Orton will show up on Saturday in a surprise appearance during their match.

Gallows and Anderson Headed For AEW?

Nick Jackson Teasing A Return?

It's important to take anything the Young Bucks post on social media with a grain of salt, but Nick Jackson recently posted a photo of The Young Bucks posing with AJ Styles, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows on their Instagram stories. Given the rumors surrounding Styles' contract situation in WWE and the fact WWE recently released Gallows and Anderson, the photo got fans talking.

It could mean absolutely nothing, given that Gallows and Anderson had a run in AEW, and it didn't amount to much. But, being that they are friends with The Young Bucks, few should be surprised if they pop up again. And, if there's anything to the idea that Styles could join them in AEW, that would be a big loss for WWE. One would have to imagine that WWE would know if Styles was interested in leaving because Gallows and Anderson are gone. If it was important to the company to keep Styles, you don't fire his best friends if he's prone to take it personally.
