WWE superstars are said to be impressed by one veteran's resilience.
A major feud that had been brewing over a year ago has become a key part of "WWE SmackDown." Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest might settle things for good at "Saturday Night's Main Event." The two will collide in a steel cage match, and McIntyre has promised that one of them will leave on a stretcher.
McIntyre and Priest have had their share of bumps and bruises in their rivalry. Priest reportedly suffered dental damage during a fatal four-way match for the WWE United States Championship at "Backlash." McIntyre was also in the match, and it was reported that part of his head hit the ground during a table spot.
PWInsider reports that Priest has been banged up in recent months. It was noted that the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion's "toughness" has been heavily praised by his peers behind the scenes.
While Priest isn't 100 percent, many argue his work hasn't suffered. He continues to be featured in marquee matches. Whether or not WWE plans to have Priest rest following "Saturday Night's Main Event" remains to be seen. McIntyre has left the door open for a possible injury angle with his recent promo.
Priest and McIntyre performed during the "WrestleMania 41" card in a street fight. McIntyre won the match after delivering a Claymore with Priest's head colliding into a steel chair. While some thought the finish marked the end of their rivalry, the two will do battle at least one more time.
