WWE Speed – Wren Sinclair and Thea Hail Clash in Tournament Final

On NXT last night, the final of the latest WWE Speed Women’s tournament pitted two submission specialists against one another. Chase U alum Thea Hail and former NQCC member Wren Sinclair entered the match with hopes of challenging reigning champion Fallon Henley. And the winner will not have to wait long for their opportunity. The title match is set for next week’s episode of WWE NXT in Houston.

Last time out, Thea Hail earned another big win against Blake Monroe, thanks to a significant assist from Jaida Parker. But as we know in WWE Speed matches, opportunities are far and few between. And Hail showed great awareness to take advantage of Parker’s gift and progress to the final. Wren Sinclair’s path to the final was a little more difficult. The Texas native came through a spirited Nikkita Lyons, forcing a submission in the dying seconds of the match.

The tournament final itself was one of evasion and caution. Both Superstars were wary of one another’s submission specialism, and the opening minutes provided a crash course in a submission countering. But Sinclair seemed better prepared for Hail’s versatile move set. Two missed Cross Body attempts took the wind out of Hail and allowed Sinclair to gain the upper hand.

After a close pinfall, Hail reversed Sinclair into a Kimura Lock. But once again, Sinclair was one step ahead of her opponent. Before Hail could lock in the move, Sinclair supremely reversed the move into her own submission: the Final Wrench. Like Nikkita Lyons before her, Hail tapped out after just a few seconds. With over a minute left on the clock, it provided another impressive win for the ever-improving Wren Sinclair.

NXT Gold on the line for Wren Sinclair’s Texas Homecoming

Wren Sinclair will have home advantage when she challenges WWE Women’s Speed Champion Fallon Henley in Houston next week. Sinclair has benefited hugely from her alliance with WWE EVOLVE Women’s Champion Kendal Grey and will look to join her ally as a WWE champion in a week’s time. The Dallas-born Sinclair has yet to taste gold in WWE, so the match represents a huge opportunity.

As for Henley, this will be her first WWE Speed title defence since winning the vacant championship in November. She defeated Zaria at NXT Gold Rush to earn her third WWE championship since debuting on NXT in 2018.
