The Intercontinental Championship will be defended in a triple-threat showdown at Saturday Night’s Main Event this weekend. It will see “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio putting the mid-card title on the line against Rusev and Penta. The challengers met in a No. 1 contender’s match on last night’s Raw in Anaheim. As they were exchanging punches while on their knees, Los Americanos crashed the party.
Rayo and Bravo Americano caused the disqualification, with El Grande Americano also there to assist his cohorts. After causing the match to end in a no-contest, Rusev and Penta took them out, with Americanos’ head honcho barely escaping the wrath of Penta. But upon whose behest did these masked luchadores ruin what was turning out to be an epic slugfest? The answer is ‘Dom’.
He talked over to someone on the phone after Finn Balor and JD McDonagh declined to have his back for the night. Balor was irate at the IC Champion for costing him and McDonagh the world tag team titles on Raw last week, as Dom’s outspoken nature had made Adam Pearce book a title defense for the Judgment Day members.

After the Irish duo left him stranded backstage, Mysterio sought external help, which he acquired from Los Americanos. ‘Dirty Dom’ later ran into Raw GM Pearce backstage and tried feigning innocence as if he had nothing to do with the Americanos prematurely putting an end to Rusev vs. Penta’s singles clash.
Pearce eventually announced an IC title three-way for Saturday Night’s Main Event as noted above. It’d be interesting to see if WWE crowns a new champion in Salt Lake City or if ‘Dom’ continues to reign supreme by hook or by crook. A previous report from Dave Meltzer claimed that WWE has plans to pit Rey Mysterio‘s son against John Cena at Survivor Series next month.
Apart from the chaos-guaranteed triple threat bout for the Intercontinental Championship at Saturday Night’s Main Event, there are some other matches to look forward to as well. The likely main event of the show is going to be Cody Rhodes defending his Undisputed WWE title against Drew McIntyre.
The Scot is in a must-win position, having previously lost to Rhodes at Wrestlepalooza. However, as per Betfair, ‘The American Nightmare’ is the current betting odds favorite to retain over McIntyre.
The fans might lose it over WWE continuously booking McIntyre to come up short in world title matches if it happens yet again this weekend. The other world title match of the night will see CM Punk and Jey Uso go at it for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship.
They came face-to-face on this week’s Raw ahead of their anticipated clash. Uso has been leaning toward his edgier side of late after receiving some counsel from Roman Reigns.
It prompted Punk to coin the nickname of “Little Roman” for ‘The Yeet Master’. Both Punk and Uso have held the world title this year. While on one hand, the former ‘Right Hand Man’ won it from Gunther at WrestleMania 41, ‘The Best in the World’ ousted Gunther for it at SummerSlam.
‘The Ring General’ was the common denominator in each case. That being said, the current odds favor Punk against Uso at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

– Cody Rhodes (c) def. Drew McIntyre – Undisputed WWE Championship
– Jade Cargill def. Tiffany Stratton (c) – WWE Women's Championship… pic.twitter.com/iY7fpZYXwM
Last but not least, Tiffany Stratton will put her women’s title on the line against a now heelish Jade Cargill. The latter unleashed herself on ‘The Buff Barbie’ on SmackDown last Friday in an attack that turned Cargill heel for the first time since her WWE debut. And the odds also favor the former AEW star to beat Stratton this weekend to become the brand-new WWE Women’s Champion.
