WWE Star Shares Thoughts on Shawn Michaels as a Boss

After Vince McMahon's reign of terror over WWE creative for over two decades, the company's programming finally has an arrow pointing up. The booking isn't perfect—just look at WrestleMania 41—but it's in a far better place than when the old man had the paper and the final say.

NXT has always had a different atmosphere, as the developmental brand has seemingly had the ability to take more dramatic risks and craft more unique storylines. The previous regime handed Shawn Michaels a product in distress, and he's since turned into an exciting outlet. A current top star gave some insight into what it's like having the widely praised "Heartbreak Kid" as a boss.

During a No Contest Wrestling live show, North American champion Ricky Saints spoke on being under Michaels' tutelage. "Shawn is very thorough in his advice and his perspective on life," Saints said. "He's lived the life ten times over. He says, 'I get you—I actually understand you—you're a passionate person.' Having Shawn as a boss is awesome because he wants me to go out there and be the best."

Saints hasn't been in the promotion long but has had the rocket strapped to his back and recently had an excellent match with former AEW colleague Ethan Page at Stand & Deliver. In a way, he has a similar personality to Michaels, as a charisma-oozing, flamboyant tweener who "can go" between the ropes.

After having quite the reputation when he first broke into the business, recently, Michaels has been regarded by many as a model citizen who is a pleasure backstage. Saints is lucky to be under his wing, as the 35-year-old has the potential to be a standout on the main roster in the near future.
