Ludwig Kaiser was arrested on Wednesday and charged with misdemeanor battery. He has already been released, and the charge is not a domestic matter despite some of the conjecture online in the hours after news of his arrest began doing the rounds on social media.
Kaiser was arrested in Orlando, Florida at 2:30 pm EST on Wednesday and charged with misdemeanor battery, according to the New York Post. Many fans appear to have seen that battery charge and made an ill-informed leap, assuming the charge is a domestic one that involved Kaiser's partner. That is not the case.
Fightful has cleared up that misconception and confirmed the battery charge came about due to an altercation Kaiser had with another man, although the identity of that man, and whether they were also arrested, is currently unknown. The arrest comes a little more than a week before Kaiser is due to wrestle in a mask vs. mask match against Chad Gable, the winner presumably earning the right to be the one and only El Grande Americano moving forward.
The arrest is accurate. We're told the battery charge was against a male after an altercation. Not a domestic situation as some are speculating https://t.co/65sZ9UnPdL— Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com (@SeanRossSapp) May 21, 2026
Whether that match goes ahead as planned might ultimately depend on the severity of the offence and the accuracy of the charge brought against Kaiser. It's entirely possible that it's already water under the bridge, or that whatever issue there was has been quickly cleared up. If that's the case, then there will hopefully be no need to change up the card.
Even if this is something that is dragged out and doesn't reach a conclusion for weeks, if not months, there's no reason it has to negatively affect Kaiser's career while these are still just charges. Liv Morgan is an example that stands out as someone who fans feared might be in trouble after she was arrested, but it's clear she spoke to WWE higher-ups behind the scenes at the time and was assured there would be no issues.
The landscape is seemingly different from the one in which Tenille Dashwood, who wrestled in WWE as Emma, was immediately released after being arrested for shoplifting. The former NXT Women's Champion was rehired right away in what was a very odd, seemingly knee-jerk reaction by WWE to her arrest.
That's not how things work in WWE anymore, and hopefully, provided Kaiser hasn't done anything sinister to lead to his arrest, this is all a blip that everyone has forgotten about by the time he wrestles against Gable at the end of the month.
