WWE Superstar Makes History By Holding Top Titles In NXT And TNA Simultaneously
via TNA

TNA Slammiversary, the promotion's biggest show of the year, took place on Sunday night, and it was WWE Superstars who stole some of its brightest spotlights. Not just AJ Styles, who returned to the promotion for the first time since 2013, but also Jacy Jayne. Jayne won the Knockouts Title, making her the first wrestler to hold TNA and NXT women's championships at the same time.

Jacy Jayne Wins The TNA Knockouts Title At Slammiversary

While Jayne should be proud that she made history, there were, of course, shenanigans that led to her becoming a cross-promotional double champion. The NXT star had to beat now-former Knockouts Champion Masha Slamovich to win the title, but she couldn't have gotten the job done had she not brought the rest of Fatal Influence to Slammiversary with her.

After Slamovich refused to stay down despite Jayne's best efforts, the double champion's cronies got involved. That opened the door for Jayne to hit Slamovich with one of the titles, but even that didn't get the job done. Slamovich even technically had Jayne beat after that happened, keeping her down for a ten count. Unfortunately for her, the referee was out cold.

After all that, the finish wound up being a relatively clean one. No weapons or outside interference, although only relatively clean since the damage had already been done. The result was Jayne standing tall in the middle of a TNA ring, both the NXT Women's and TNA Knockout Championships held aloft. A historic moment for her and both promotions.

What Becomes Of The TNA Knockouts Title Now It's In NXT?

WWE

There has been a lot of crossover between NXT and TNA due to the latter's working relationship with WWE. Jordynne Grace even showed up on the main roster with the Knockouts Title before she signed. Grace lost the championship before making the jump to WWE, but I get the feeling she will be the one who comes to TNA's rescue here.

Grace and Jayne have been at war for a while now, with Fatal Influence foiling the former TNA star at every turn. Now that Jayne is a double champion, and her newest accolade is one Grace has a storied past with, it will only drive her to thwart Jayne and take both her titles even more.
