WWE fans are learning that there is a downside to WWE's relationship with Netflix. As part of the ongoing cross-promotional efforts that feature Monday Night Raw showcasing Netflix actors, athletes, and comedians in the audience, WWE occasionally brings in an unusual "star" to appear on the show and perform a spot or two backstage. On Monday night, it was Tom Segura and Bert Kreischer, and WWE is taking criticism from members of the WWE Universe who remember how poorly Segura talked about the industry and the fans.

It wasn't that long ago that Segura -- who was on Raw to promote his new Netflix show Bad Thoughts-- was tearing apart wrestling and wrestling fans on his podcast. Despite the awful things he was saying about the industry and the people who like it, WWE brought him on and let him plug his new project. Cathy Kelly did call him out a bit, but all Segura would say was, "I've said some stupid things in my life." He then said that he had Cody Rhodes on his podcast and said it was a real "eye-opener". He added that Bert had a great time last time he was there and convinced Segura to come by.
As much as Segura tried to make good, fans haven't forgotten or forgiven Segura for the things he said in the past.
Just figured wrestling fans should see this video of @tomsegura saying we’re all “retards†for future reference if his name comes up.pic.twitter.com/ejnYpyqBiC— Ryan Satin (@ryansatin) May 8, 2020
On an episode of his "Your Mom's House" podcast in 2020, Segura said the following:
"I think wrestling is for f------ (expletive)," Segura said. He added that he can't understand why so many people like it, calling it the "stupidest sh--": and saying he thinks fans are "f------ tools" if they like it. "It's f------ fake, and you're a f------ idiot."
He added that people are pathetic for getting so into it and any grown male adult should be embarrassed that they get excited about what is on the show.
Clearly, Segura didn't have an understanding at that time about what the WWE product actually is or is trying to be, and he might have been taking the heated stance to get views, but wrestling fans are loyal and they don't take kindly to that kind of ignorance. Fans went to social media immediately, bashing WWE for bringing Segura onto the show and wondered how many wrestlers backstage might have had something to say to him.
