Finn Bálor's "Demon King" persona may be on the verge of making a dramatic comeback in WWE. The unique alter ego, known for its eerie black and red face paint and supernatural aura, was a key part of Bálor’s rise in WWE, helping him win major matches, including the Universal Championship. He's said in previous interviews that he didn't think he'd ever pull the character out again, but he also noted that the character wasn't used properly. A tease on Raw suggests he might be looking to give the gimmick one more run.

During this week’s episode of Raw, fans noticed a subtle piece of merchandise or memorabilia with the Demon King's likeness on it during a backstage segment involving Bálor and the rest of Judgment Day. The appearance of the object sparked immediate speculation. Given WWE’s history of planting visual cues under Triple H to foreshadow upcoming reveals, this wasn't a coincidence and it certainly wasn't an accident.
Later in the evening, when Bálor’s in-ring actions hinted that he was acting and moving a lot more like the Demon King, the WWE Universe really picked up on it. Bron Breakker had just beaten Dominik Mysterio by disqualification when Bálor attempted to launch a sneak attack with a chair. Breakker saw it coming and when Balor went to back away, he slithered out of the ring. His movements bore a striking resemblance to the way The Demon King character moved around.
Bálor’s potential return to his darker, more mystical persona comes at an interesting time. WWE2K25 just revealed a playable Demon King character and his standing in The Judgment Day has seemed uncertain based on his bickering with the group and refusal to allow a new member to join.
The underlying tensions could suggest a split from the faction, and what better way to do so than to reintroduce The Demon King? He could play a babyface against Judgment Day, or actually be the other member he is willing to add to the group.
Even more intriguing is that WrestleVotes recently reported that WWE is considering a multi-man bout for the Intercontinental Championship. With Bálor and AJ Styles both stepping up as potential challengers to Bron Breakker, the stage could be set for an electrifying Triple Threat Match. And, if Sheamus were added to the bout, there might even be a way for him to finally win the title that has eluded him for so long.
While nothing is confirmed yet, all signs point to WWE at least exploring the return of The Demon King. They are definitely teasing they're at least considering the idea.
