WWE: Unreal Reveals Original Plans for Drew McIntyre with Steve Austin’s Involvement at WrestleMania 41

WWE: Unreal, an unprecedented look into behind the scenes at WWE, is now premiering on Netflix. The tell-all docuseries, though criticized by some in the industry for breaking the fourth wall, has received rave reviews for its engrossing content. It also revealed the entire WrestleMania 41 card, which, at one point, was entirely different than the one that actually came to fruition.

Drew McIntyre, who had a career-defining 2024, was pegged to be featured in a major spot at WrestleMania. But he ended up facing Damian Priest in a street fight, which wasn’t the original plan. In fact, as revealed in the docuseries, the Scot was planned to take on Bron Breakker with ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin as the special guest referee.

And going by the online response, the fans would’ve been way more excited for it. But since the plan fell through, what actually went down with McIntyre, Breakker, and Austin was all part of the pivot. ‘The Unpredictable Badass’ lost his Intercontinental Championship to Dominik Mysterio in a Fatal 4-Way match also including Finn Balor and Penta.

Moreover, Steve Austin, who, at one point, was set to officiate the Breakker vs. McIntyre bout, ended up crashing his ATV before announcing the combined WrestleMania attendance figures for both nights. There was an overwhelming fan backlash surrounding McIntyre’s WrestleMania clash with Priest.

WWE was said to have taken note of it, but they didn’t deter from the course. Moreover, when it was all said and done, the Sin City street fight between these two giants received heavy props from the fans and even cynics of this feud.

Will Drew McIntyre even make it to this year’s SummerSlam?

Pretty much like he had it at WrestleMania, Drew McIntyre isn’t scheduled for any title match at the company’s second biggest show of the year either—SummerSlam. In fact, ‘The Scottish Psychopath’ is involved in a celebrity contest. The Ayr-born wrestler will team up with Logan Paul to take on Randy Orton and singer-rapper Jelly Roll.

Since his return, McIntyre has registered a pinfall loss against ‘The Viper’. One would imagine that the Scot is in dire need of getting back to winning ways. But for that to happen, he has to compete first, which, at the moment, is in jeopardy. The 40-year-old was stranded in London as of yesterday owing to passport issues.

The Scot was precluded from boarding the flight back to the US, as he wasn’t carrying a physical copy of his US passport. WWE is currently dealing with this situation, and wheels are in motion for alternate plans in case ‘The Chosen One’ doesn’t land back in the US in time for SmackDown. Things are quite delicate at the moment, and it needs to be seen if they’d force McIntyre to miss out on SummerSlam.

The Miz has offered to replace Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam

It seems like WWE doesn’t need to worry about scratching their heads over a potential replacement for Drew McIntyre if he can’t work SummerSlam. The Miz has offered to fill in those shoes. Taking to Instagram, the ‘A-lister’ mocked the Scot by saying he isn’t landlocked in the UK, unlike McIntyre.

The former champion also reminded everyone that he brought Logan Paul into WWE and advocated for the Westlake-born celebrity’s bright future in wrestling. Miz said he’s the ideal man to sub in for McIntyre and join forces with ‘The Maverick’ to battle Randy Orton and Jelly Roll. ‘The Awesome One’ also regurgitated that he beat Orton for his first world title win in WWE.

While admitting that ‘The Viper’ has only gotten better since that moment, Miz affirmed that he can oust the St. Louis native again. Coming on to Roll, Miz didn’t make fun of him. Instead, the 8-time Intercontinental Champion applauded the 40-year-old rapper for his incredible weight loss journey.
