WWE Wrestlepalooza: Triple H Hints at Surprises and Returns
WWE
  • Triple H promises spectacle, surprises and big fun at Wrestlepalooza alongside ESPN hype.
  • AJ Lee returns after 10 years to team with CM Punk in a mixed tag vs. Rollins and Becky Lynch.
  • Big returns and matches: Brock vs. Cena opens; Cody vs. Drew and vacant women's title set.

For weeks now, WWE and ESPN have been partnering together to promote the upcoming PLE Wrestlepalooza. It’s the first WWE main roster PLE for the ESPN era, where all the main PLEs will be streaming on ESPN’s new DTC service. The app was released on August 21. Anyway, this week and this month have really been a big deal for both companies. This Friday, September 19, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque was promoting the event on ESPN’s Get Up.

Surprises Await Fans At Wrestlepalooza

While Triple H was talking on Get Up, he revealed that fans should expect to have a lot of fun and surprises during Wrestlepalooza. He said:

“Nobody does big events like WWE, with possibly the exception of ESPN, right? What you guys do—the hype that you put around it, shows like this coming up here—and having my honor being here with you, you know, all of this First Take, ESPN. ESPN builds those events to be bigger than anything, and then we deliver on them bigger than anybody. So expect spectacle, expect surprises, expect to have a lot of fun, and ESPN is going to deliver.” (h/t: WrestlingPurists)

So what do surprises entail? Possibly some surprise returns. As reported, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Gunther is supposed to be back “very soon.” Does that mean he will confront Seth Rollins, who has his title, the WWE World Heavyweight Championship? There could be a surprise return in the form of Bianca Belair. She has been out of action since WrestleMania 41. The EST did provide an update earlier this week, noting that she “will be back soon.” She’s been out of action due to an injured finger and some much-needed time off.

Another surprise could be appearances from WWE Hall of Famers or TNA wrestlers. Anything is possible in the wrestling world.

Wrestlepalooza’s Card Includes Its Own Returns

WWE

Speaking of returns, the Wrestlepalooza card includes one major return that shocked fans — AJ Lee. For the first time in ten years, AJ Lee is getting back into a ring, and she’s doing it right alongside her husband, CM Punk. The couple will be facing Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch in a mixed tag match.

Rollins’ Vision stablemates, Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, are set to face Jey and Jimmy Uso.

Another shocking return was Brock Lesnar. Lesnar will be facing John Cena. It’s worth mentioning that the match was scheduled for the main event, but now it will be opening the show. Other matches include the vacant Women’s Championship match between Stephanie Vaquer and IYO SKY, and Cody Rhodes will defend his Undisputed WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre.
