Kevin Jairaj-Imagn Images

Jake Paul (11-1, 7 KOs) has been discussed more than ever recently, with rumours circulating that “El Gallo” will face Canelo Alvarez. This huge crossover fight seemingly fell apart, with Alvarez deciding to sign a four-fight deal with Riyadh Season, starting with William Scull in May. Paul has been criticised more than ever, with the 28-year-old facing mostly ageing MMA and Boxing stars. 20-1 super middleweight Steven Nelson has issued a public callout via his X account to face Paul.

20-1 Super Middleweight Steven Nelson Calls Out Jake Paul

Nelson Issues Challenge to Jake Paul: ‘Whatever Weight You Want’

Paul has been posting regularly in the last few days, aiming his displeasure at Canelo regarding the collapsed negotiations for their fight. Nelson recently lost for the first time in his professional career against the talented Diego Pacheco.

Nelson has made it clear he’s prepared to face Paul: “Aye @jakepaul since Canelo is fighting my brother @terencecrawford instead of you, me and you can fight at whatever weight you want TIME TO FIGHT A REAL…ACTIVE… BOXER, JAKE!!!”

MVP Responds to Breakdown of Canelo Fight Talks

Whatever Paul decides next, his social media posts make it clear he’s not happy with recent developments. Most Valuable Promotions, the company co-founded by Paul and Nakisa Bidarian, recently released a statement giving their side of recent events:

“MVP was deep in negotiations for a blockbuster fight between Jake Paul and Canelo Alvarez on Cinco de Mayo weekend in Las Vegas, a massive event for the Mexican, Puerto Rican and American fans, and it’s disappointing to see how the situation unfolded. MVP operates with integrity, transparency, and respect for the sport, its athletes, and the fans. Unfortunately, not everyone in the boxing world shares those values.

This situation is a reminder not to believe everything you read, especially when the current media environment is often controlled by those with hidden agendas, including promoters who have reporters on their payroll.

We remain in active discussions with multiple high-profile opponents and are committed to delivering the biggest fights, the most exciting events, and to working with partners who share our values and our commitment to boxing and its fighters.

Jake Paul isn’t going anywhere, and neither is MVP. We’ll continue to disrupt boxing, on our terms.”

Steven Nelson has made it clear he’s ready to face the MVP co-founder, offering Jake Paul the real test the boxing world craves.

Report: Bears' Ben Johnson screamed at Caleb Williams during training camp

There is no ramp-up period for the Chicago Bears at training camp this year. Head coach Ben Johnson brought the same intensity he harbored during OTAs at the Bears’ first practice of training camp Wednesday at Halas Hall in Lake Forest, Illinois. Adam Hoge of CHGO Bears said that Johnson was upset with Williams and the offense multiple times on Wednesday. He got into the face of the No. 1 pick in the 2024 draft during a seven-on-seven drill. “Accountability is what I’m talking about, though, because, look, it was like a three-strike thing, let’s call three strikes, and you’re out all right,” Hoge said on the CHGO podcast. “Because we saw Ben get in Caleb’s, you know what, during seven-on-sevens about something. I don’t know what it was about, but he wasn’t happy, and he was screaming at him, alright.” Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson tried to show patience Johnson tried to show patience with the second mistake, when there was a miscommunication with the wide receivers getting lined up. He let Williams and the receivers sort the issue out before the play. But Johnson didn’t stand idly on the third pre-snap mistake; another miscommunication between Williams and the receivers. Johnson pulled the entire first-team off the field in favor of the second-team led by veteran quarterback Case Keenum. Caleb Williams is picking up where he left off in OTAs Per multiple reports, the Bears’ offense had a poor day. Mark Carman called Williams’ performance on Wednesday the worst part of practice. “Today was just bad,” Carman said. “They had to pull the offense off the field. (Williams) wasn’t getting them lined up. It might not have been his fault every single time...his first pass was picked off (by linebacker Tremaine Edmunds). “He rolled right on long play, Cold Kmet’s wide open right in front of him. He ended up running out of bounds. It just wasn’t a good day for the quarterback.” Williams didn’t have a great spring. He struggled with every duty from calling the play in the huddle to getting the cadence right to throwing the ball into the middle of the field or further than 10 yards. As of Day 1 at camp, all of those things are still problems. But at least the $13 million per year head coach is mad.

Nationals OF makes Catch of the Year candidate to rob home run

Washington Nationals outfielder Jacob Young delivered a Catch of the Year candidate with a spectacular grab he made on Wednesday. Young’s Nationals lost 5-0 to the Cincinnati Reds at Nationals Park in Washington D.C. on Wednesday, and the score could have been worse if not for Young. Will Benson was batting for Cincinnati with a runner on third base and two outs in the top of the eighth inning with his team leading 3-0. He belted a first pitch 96 mph fastball to deep center, but Young climbed the wall in center field to rob Benson of a 2-run home run. Here is a slow-motion version of the catch that shows Young climbing the wall to make the catch. What a catch by Young. Although Benson gave that pitch quite a ride, the metrics suggest it would have been a home run in only five MLB ballparks, so a flyout was an anticipated outcome. You just wouldn’t expect that ball to become an out in the manner that it did. Holy cow.

Why Justin Fields is grateful for Jets' training camp experience after Steelers tenure

At this time last summer, Justin Fields was competing with Russell Wilson to be named the Pittsburgh Steelers' Week 1 starting quarterback. To compare, the New York Jets named Fields their QB1 almost immediately after signing him to a two-year, $40M deal with $30M guaranteed in March. On Wednesday, Fields addressed being able to focus on serving as the Jets' undisputed starter. "Last year, like I said, it was kind of in a weird position," Fields explained, the New York Daily News' Antwan Staley shared. "But I think, you don’t have to do as much thinking, and you kind of just know where you are and focus on getting better, focus on leading the team each and every day. So, it’s just not as much other stuff going around, so it’s good." Roughly 12 months ago, reports detailed how Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin had essentially already decided he wanted to start Wilson over Fields. Fields then guided the Steelers to four wins over the season's first six weeks as Wilson recovered from a lingering calf problem. Despite the team's record, Tomlin kept Wilson atop the depth chart from Week 7 through a wild-card playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens. The Chicago Bears made Fields the 11th overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft, and he went 10-28 as a starter over his first three seasons before the Bears anointed Caleb Williams as their potential new franchise savior. On Wednesday, Fields made it known he's chasing team goals heading into the upcoming campaign. "Winning, winning games, winning a lot of games, making the playoffs," Fields said about what he hopes to achieve with the Jets, per Jack Bell of the team's website. "I think that's No. 1 on my list for this team. And winning the division as well. So I think those are the goals that are set forth. But of course, before we do all that stuff, we got to win our division. And go out and really do better each and every day. So all that to say that's of course, down the line, so you kind of got to focus on today and tomorrow." The fact that the Jets can escape Fields' contract as soon as next offseason means they could turn to backup Tyrod Taylor at any point if Fields leaves much to be desired with his play this fall. As of Thursday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook had the 2025 Jets responsible for the fourth-worst betting odds (+475) to make the playoffs. Only the New York Giants, New Orleans Saints and Cleveland Browns were lower on the list at that time. Fields was more concerned about building "team chemistry" than about forecasts for his first season with the Jets when he spoke with reporters on Wednesday. "The more that we can hang out, the better," Fields added. "The more you know a person, the more you know their story, I think the harder you play for them and for that person, the more you understand that person."

Milwaukee Bucks: Jrue Holiday Appears to Have A Big Role in Damian Lillard’s Return to Portland Because of Just 1 Emoji

Your exes teaming up to work against you? That’s what it is like for Milwaukee Bucks fans right now after Damian Lillard and Jrue Holiday are now together on the Portland Trailblazers squad. The two wearing the same jersey in the future seasons is not just a simple work by destiny. Somebody laid down the path long before Lillard got waived by the Bucks. Dame appeared in front of reporters again after his introductory conference a few days and this time, he got to discuss his future with the team and what would be his dynamics with his future teammates. One player he said he is looking forward to share the court Holiday who he revealed to be the one who subtly recruited him to Blazers. “”Damian Lillard said today at his kids camp in Beaverton that as soon as he got waived, Jrue Holiday texted him the emoji. Also said he was trying to get Jrue to Portland in 2021 when he was traded from New Orleans to Milwaukee,” wrote NBA reporter Sean Highkin. News of Holiday’s trade to the Blazers was reported around the last week of June. Lillard was waived a few days after Damian Lillard’s main reason to return to Portland Of course, it would be a leap to say that Jrue got Lillard back to Portland. He has more reasons to return there other than that emoji. Chris Haynes reported early this month that Lillard made a request to get his rehab done in his home in Portland where he has been living with his family since he was drafted by the team in 2012. The reporter said it was what started the ball rolling concerning his eventual waiving by the Bucks. Another is his bond with the community where he built his legend as their superstar in over a decade. He was waived and in return, the Bucks got a good deal they were able to stretch his salary to five years instead of two and will only be paid $20 million this season instead of $56 million. The Bucks then got to sign a young player in Myles Turner who will be paired with Giannis Antetokounmpo on the backcourt. Lillard said he is excited work with Holiday although their debut on the hardwood will have to wait as he is set to use the whole 2025-26 season to rehab his injured torn Achilles that one can say trigged this development.
