A Pathway For A Jake Paul Victory
Anthony Behar

It’s not easy being a detested athlete (or entertainer) like Jake Paul (9-1). Having an egotistical personality and a holier-than-thou attitude rubs a lot of people the wrong way. Yet, that’s where he is, with his July 20th fight at AT&T Stadium against Mike Tyson looming.

Therefore, it’s easy to see why the public is rooting for a Tyson victory. He’s likable, he’s a badass, and he’s a legendary boxer. Boxing fans and casuals alike will also pull for “Iron Mike” based solely on his name, adding to the rooting interest.

However, what would happen if the YouTube personality defeated Tyson (50-6)? How outraged would the public be that Paul pulled off a massive victory? Believe it or not, it’s not as far-fetched as one would think. Here’s a pathway for the Cleveland native to defeat his legendary adversary.

Jake Paul Is Younger

Now, this could go either way. Tyson’s experience and expertise would make him challenging for Jake Paul. It’s a given considering Paul hasn’t won the prestigious championships that Tyson has. However, “Father Time” is undefeated, taking away the talents and physical strengths people once had. That’s no different with Tyson, who’s 57 years old.

Fighting at an old age has plenty of deterrents, ranging from a loss of power to lower stamina. Granted, there wasn’t much of a loss of power for the former world heavyweight champion. However, if the fight goes on longer than expected, it plays in the favor of Paul.

Being 27 years old isn’t much of a benefit for an adult man. You don’t have as many life experiences as your elders and knowledge and wisdom are hard to come by. Therefore, people will view the younger man as a novice in society. But for Paul, it might work in his favor, especially if he’s the faster boxer on July 20.

Jake Paul’s Other Advantage

There’s another advantage that Jake Paul has going into the fight. Mike Tyson doesn’t need this fight as much as Paul does. For the former world heavyweight champion, there’s not much of a loss in his boxing career. After all, his last fight came in 2005, with the YouTube personality being the fresher body.

However, Paul needs this fight for that reason. What would happen if he lost to a boxer who hasn’t fought in decades? People would automatically think he’s a fraud, with the public dismissing Paul’s boxing career.

“Oh, he’s just a glorified YouTube star.”

“All he fought were washed-up UFC stars.”

If Paul loses this fight, those will be some of the rumblings he’ll hear after losing. Therefore, there should be extra motivation for the 27-year-old to defeat Tyson in July. Losing to a 57-year-old who’s just getting back into the ring would humiliate the aspiring superstar.
