Alycia Baumgardner successfully retained her undisputed super featherweight championship tonight with a hard-fought victory over Jennifer Miranda, further solidifying her position as one of the top pound-for-pound fighters in women’s boxing.
Judges saw the fight 97-93, 98-92, and 98-92 for Baumgardner, the latter two seeming especially wide. Most observers had the fight closer than that. While Baumgardner (16-1, 7 KOs) got the win on paper, many observers felt the fight was much closer than the scorecards indicated. Miranda (12-1, 1 KO) gave a strong performance and showed she belonged on the big stage, frequently outworking Baumgardner in spurts and never backing down.
Baumgardner, showing the poise and power that have defined her reign, controlled the pace with sharp counterpunching and ring generalship. Miranda brought pressure and had moments of success, but ultimately couldn’t match Baumgardner’s precision or experience over the championship rounds. Baumgardner remains the undisputed queen at 130 lbs, defending all four major belts (WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO).

Alycia Baumgardner acknowledged that her performance wasn’t perfect in her return to the ring, but emphasized the importance of shaking off the rust after an extended period of inactivity.
“I definitely give myself a B plus, it wasn’t my best performance,” Baumgardner said post fight. “But I’m just happy to be in the ring with such a long layoff and just be able to get those rounds in.”
Saturday’s unanimous decision win over Jennifer Miranda marked Baumgardner’s first full fight in nearly two years. In that span, she had competed in just four rounds, a 2023 bout against Delfine Persoon that ended in a no-contest.
Despite some visible rust and a closer than expected challenge from Miranda, Baumgardner retained her undisputed super featherweight titles and took a crucial step back toward elite form. The bout served as a much needed tune up, and Baumgardner made clear that she’s aiming for sharper, more dominant performances moving forward.
