Quinton Jackson is poised to face off against his long-time adversary, Shannon Briggs, in a much-anticipated boxing showdown scheduled for June 1 in Qatar.

The news of this highly anticipated match came directly from Jackson himself, who took to his Instagram account, “Rampage,” to share a video showcasing him with a signed contract for the upcoming fight. The seasoned PRIDE FC and UFC veteran expressed his eagerness, emphasizing that after a two-year wait, he is finally ready to silence Briggs once and for all.

In response, Shannon Briggs swiftly replied with a video, adding a caption to affirm that he had already inked his commitment to the fight.

The Origins of  the”Rampage’s” Feud with “The Cannon”

The animosity between these two formidable fighters traces back to Triller’s Triad Combat event on November 28, 2021. Both Jackson and Briggs assumed the roles of team captains, leading squads composed of MMA fighters and boxers, respectively. The rivalry unfolded in a triangular ring, employing unconventional hybrid rules that permitted the use of any punching technique from MMA, including spinning back fists and clinching, coupled with the mandatory use of special open-finger gloves.

Each victory earned the winning team points, and the final tally saw Team MMA securing 14 points against Team Boxing’s 11. Throughout the event, Jackson and Briggs engaged in a war of words, each striving to prove the superiority of their respective combat sports. Even during that time, both fighters concurred on settling their differences inside a boxing ring.

Subsequently, a verbal skirmish unfolded on social media, and the two fighters met face-to-face during the Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou weigh-ins in Saudi Arabia. Following further discussions, both fighters acknowledged that their potential clash was in the works.
