Boxing returns to the land of the rising sun as Kameda Promotions hosts a fight card headlined by IBF featherweight champion Angelo Leo (25-1, 12 KOs), who defends his title against Tomoki Kameda (42-4, 23 KOs).
Leo, 31, from Albuquerque, NM, will be making his first title defense in Japan as some of the division’s top names await the result of this fight on Saturday morning here in the States. Leo knocked out Luis Alberto Lopez in August to earn the IBF title, and he has been the subject of unification rumors as of late. Those rumored whispers will have to take a pause for now until Saturday after the fight.
Kameda, 33, from Osaka, Japan, is a 46-fight veteran who’s shared the ring with the division’s top names and is not getting another opportunity at a title. His last title fight was in 2019 against Rey Vargas, but that was at super bantamweight, where Kameda was defeated by unanimous decision. This may be his last opportunity at a title, so seeing how he looks against the surging Leo will be interesting.
Per BetMGM, Angelo Leo is the favorite at -400, and Tomoki Kameda is the underdog at +333.
These timings could change due to the length of the undercard fights.
