Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) won the gold medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London and subsequently turned professional, headlining fight cards all over the world and facing top opponents, including Wladimir Klitschko and Oleksandr Usyk twice. Since losing to Daniel Dubois, many have speculated whether we will see AJ back in the ring. One fight he has been linked with is a showdown with Jake Paul (12-1, 7 KOs), and Eddie Hearn has spoken to Sky Sports, giving his honest view on a potential AJ vs Paul fight.
Joshua is a two-time world champion who has mixed with the very best fighters. Following his last defeat, AJ has had some injury troubles, including elbow surgery, which has delayed his return. It’s clear he favours the Tyson Fury fight, but it appears “The Gypsy King” is stayting retired.
When talking about a potential Joshua vs Paul fight, Hearn said: “I think you have to give Jake his props and look he’s a disruptor, he wants to create mad moments,” Hearn told Sky Sports.
“If he wants to be mad enough to get in the ring with Anthony Joshua and make several tens of potentially hundreds of millions, he will do it, Jake Paul.
“Will AJ? He’s his own man, but I will be saying, ‘Yeah, go on mate. Go and deal with this guy. Get him out of the game.’
“I think a lot of people will tune in to watch. Is it a fight that I think should be happening? No, not really, but we live in a completely crazy world, especially in the world of boxing where you just never know.”
Following his win over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, Paul discussed a potential Joshua bout at the post-fight press conference: “Anthony Joshua is an insane fight, but I want that challenge.
“We’ve been DM-ing back and forth. He wants to make it happen. He called me up and it’s looking very likely for next year.”
If Joshua does return, who do you want him to fight?
