More information has been reported following a tragic incident in Nigeria.

It was reported on December 29 that Anthony Joshua was injured in a car crash that resulted in two deaths.

The former two-time heavyweight champion was in Nigeria during the holiday period due to his family’s roots in Sagamu.

Health updates have since been released regarding Joshua, with images of the crash being posted by the Federal Road Safety Corps in Nigeria.

The latest report from the BBC specifically concerns the driver of the Lexus Jeep that ‘AJ’ and his friends were travelling in at the time of the crash.

The likes of Tyson Fury sent tributes to Anthony Joshua’s two friends who were killed in the crash earlier this week.

Road safety officials said that five adult males were involved in the incident, but it was the boxing star’s personal trainer, Latif Ayodele, and his strength coach, Sina Ghami, that lost their lives.

On January 2, the BBC reported the following update via police sources, naming Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, who has worked for Joshua for several years, as the driver of the vehicle that crashed into a stationary truck.

The BBC added that Mr Kayode was charged with four offenses according to police sources: causing death by dangerous driving, reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care, and driving without a valid driver’s license.

Other reports state that Adeniyi pleaded not guilty to the charges and that the brakes of the vehicle didn’t work.

He was charged at the Sagamu Magistrates’ Court on Friday before being granted bail with a sum of 5,000,000 Naira (roughly $3,479.52).

It was also noted that the case has been adjourned until January 20.

Lagos commissioner Gbenga Omotoso said in a statement that Joshua paid tribute to his friends at a funeral home after being discharged to continue his recovery from home.
