Tim Tsyzu was overwhelmed by undefeated champion Bakhram Murtazaliev. The former champion was knocked down four times during the fight. In the third round Tsyzu corner threw in the towel as Murtazaliev retains his IBF super welterweight belt Sunday in Orlando, FL.

“Nobody can doubt his heart,” Murtazaliev said of Tszyu. “When I landed that first shot, I knew how hard it was.”

Bakhram Murtazaliev took control early in the second round when he landed a great that dropped Tszyu in the first minute. Tszyu showed great heart by trying to respond but he’s caught with a solid left hand that dropped him for the second time in the round. Tszyu was clearly on survivor mode at this point. His legs were clearly not under him as his struggled to make it to the end of the round.  Murtazaliev would knock Tsyzu for the third time in the round.

Surviving the round gave Tsyzu one more chance to try re-establish himself but unfortunately for him Bakhram Murtazaliev saw blood and went in for the kill. The champ would knock down Tszyu for the fourth time early in the third round. The referee was already thinking about stopping the fight at the end of the second round. He warned the challenger that he needed to see improvement for the fight to continue on. That didn’t happen as the beat down continued and moments later his corner was given little threw in the towel.

Not so promising year after all

This fight was suppose to be a gateway to getting Tsyzu back on track after his upset loss to Sebastian Fudora which was one of the bloodiest fights in recent memory. Tsyzu had a big gash in his head that leaking blood all over his face which made his fight even more difficult to overcome. But with this loss he can forget a fight against the winner of Spence vs Fudora. Or a possible fight with Terance Crawford or maybe even Jermell Charlo.

“Every time I step into the ring, I’m willing to die in here. The better man won tonight,” said Tszyu, moments after the fight had ended. “After the first shot, things didn’t go according to plan. That’s boxing. You get hit and your reactions are slower. I tried my best and these things happen. You live and you learn, right? He’s the man.”
