Ben Whittaker boxes Benjamin Gavazi for his Matchroom Boxing debut on November 29, as we preview this upcoming fight.

Whittaker’s last appearance was a dominant second-round TKO win over Liam Cameron back in April. This victory was crucial, as it successfully erased the memory of the controversial technical draw from their first clash in October 2024. That initial fight saw Whittaker heavily criticized after a bizarre incident in the fifth round where he was forced to retire due to an injury after falling over the ropes just as Cameron appeared to be swinging the momentum his way. Meanwhile, Gavazi is far from an easy opponent. Though he enters the fight following an approximate year lay-off, Gavazi is a proven fighter, having stopped Branimir Malenica in his last fight. He will be looking to spoil Whittaker’s Matchroom debut.

Pre-Fight

“I think we all knew we were going to come down his road. I was lucky enough to become a free agent and spoke to everyone and for me Matchroom just gave me the best plan, the best route and they’ve been there and done it before. They’ve done it with fighters, probably not even with my talent.

“So I thought I can do it with them, with a bit of guidance I’ll be alright. Activity is key, elsewhere they couldn’t really do a lot of fights but for me it’s about getting active. I think when you get into that later part of your career where it’s like world titles or contending for a world title your career will slow down,” Whittaker said

“I want to take this chance and win this fight. In the last fight I was not the favorite and no one believed in me, now the same thing is happening and I am ready to shock the boxing world to show what kind of boxer I am. I don’t think too much about future opportunities, I’m focused on this match. I know that when I win, my life will change, but right now I’m focused on November 29th,” Gavazi stated
