Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev have faced off twice in the past six months in a light-heavyweight bout that will go down in boxing history, with both fighters emerging victorious by majority decision.

As fans and commentators alike are still divided on separating the two best techs, the hotly contested matches have only intensified the argument over who actually dominates the division.

The first fight lived up to all the hype, taking place in a crowded venue in late fall. For a large portion of the match, Bivol used angles and ring IQ to negate Beterbiev's boasted strength, showcasing his signature footwork and surgical precision. Bivol's early work was sufficient to secure a majority judgement, with two judges giving it a narrow victory and the third declaring a draw, despite Beterbiev's late burst of unrelenting pressure and thudding combinations.

Only a few months later, the rematch changed the course of events. Beterbiev made his presence known from the opening bell after modifying his strategy to shut off the ring more successfully. Beterbiev's aggression influenced the scorecards this time, even though the Kyrgyz technician still had his moments, as his body work delayed Bivol's mobility. A majority ruling was made once more, this time in favour of Beterbiev, leaving the rivalry in a stalemate and fans eager for a trilogy fight.

The conflict of styles is what makes this contest so interesting. Beterbiev, the unrelenting titan, offers unwavering resolve and knockout power in both fists, while Bivol, the cunning and astute strategist, thrives on movement and timing. They have engaged in respectful yet intensely competitive, technical but ruthless duelling. The boxing world is already hearing calls for a decisive third fight. A rubber match would not only settle the score but also maybe establish an uncontested light-heavyweight king because both competitors have demonstrated their ability to defeat one another. Two champions, one legacy, and a rivalry that is still very much alive, Bivol and Beterbiev are currently neck and neck.
