Boxing Fans Slam Usyk vs. Dubois PPV Price

Boxing fans have reacted negatively to the Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois PPV price set at $59.99.

The fight is a rematch of their 2023 clash which Usyk won by a ninth round stoppage in controversial circumstances. Dubois dropped Usyk in the fifth round with a body shot, which was subsequently declared a low blow. While Dubois appealed the decision to the WBA, the original ruling was upheld. Since then, both fighters have gone on from strength to strength.

Usyk defeated Tyson Fury on two occasions to become the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion. After the first win, Usyk vacated the IBF belt, which was taken up by Dubois since he was the interim champion. Dubois defended it successfully by knocking out Anthony Joshua in his last fight. Although Dubois has improved, Usyk is still seen as the huge favorite.

The Ukrainian was dominating the first fight, and aside from that incident in the fifth round, Dubois never looked like he could hurt the Ukrainian. There were even suggestions that Dubois had quit in the fight after he had got up just as the count went out. The PPV price has resulted in criticism for various reasons.

Problem

The Saudis had previously stated that they aimed to establish a global PPV price of around $20. The current pricing of 59.99 goes against that. There is also the issue of fans having to subscribe to DAZN to pay the subscription fee, with the PPV price coming on top. DAZN’s model was designed to eliminate PPV.

However, boxing fans are now having to pay more for the biggest fights. There is also criticism over the undercard. Although Moses Itauma is present, there has been no announcement regarding his next opponent. Meanwhile, there is still uncertainty over whether Joseph Parker could feature on the card. Boxing plans have now come out in droves to express their dissatisfaction.
