Boxing News: Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford Fight To Stream On Netflix

The blockbuster fight between the two-time undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez and two-division undisputed champion Terence Crawford will be streamed live on Netflix. The bout is scheduled for Saturday, Sep. 13 in Las Vegas. The venue still needs to be determined.

Alvarez enters the fight after a unanimous decision victory against William Scull in May. Crawford’s last fight was last August when he won against Israil Madrimov for the WBA junior middleweight championship. 

Boxing On Netflix

Netflix has become the home to live events. The first boxing card was Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson. The highly anticipated third matchup between Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor will air live on the platform on July 11 from the famous Madison Square Garden. 

The Canelo vs. Crawford will be promoted by Saudi Boxing Federation president Turki Alalshikh, UFC president Dana White, and Sela, a privately owned Saudi Arabian entertainment company. In a statement, Alalshikh said in a statement, “On September 13, Canelo and Crawford, two legends of boxing, will finally compete against each other in the fight of the century.”

White’s original plans were to host the annual Noche UFC event at Arena Guadalajara in Mexico on September 12 which would have interfered with the fight. It was announced that the UFC would not hold the event after construction delays for the arena forced it to move to Frost Bank Center in San Antonio. 

Final Thoughts

Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 KOs) has won his last six fights since losing to Dmitry Bivol in 2022, when he moved up to challenge for the light heavyweight title. Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) is one of the best pound-for-pound fighters of this generation. He has been the undisputed champ at welterweight and junior welterweight. 

Canelo said, “On Sept. 13, I’m ready to show once again that I am the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.” Crawford’s statement was, “My perfect record speaks for itself. I am the best fighter in the world, and no matter the opponent or weight class, I have always come out on top. On Sept. 13, my hand will be raised once again as the world watches greatness.”

This fight can bring many casual fans back to the sport of boxing. September 13 has the chance to be one of the best nights in boxing history.
