Canelo vs Crawford will headline a Riyadh Season card on September 13, live on Netflix to its 300 million subscribers. The entire card will take place in Las Vegas, with Allegiant Stadium – the likely landing spot for this historic event. Recently, Dana White’s involvement was confirmed in an X post by Turki Alalshikh. Ahead of this undisputed super middleweight showdown, Eddie Hearn spoke on the Ariel x Ade DAZN Boxing Show and gave his honest take on the super-fight, revealing the fighter he slightly favours.
The announcement that Canelo vs Crawford will land on Netflix is huge for the sport of boxing. It will help ensure the more casual fan will tune in, as they did in huge numbers for Mike Tyson vs Jack Paul.
Speaking to Ariel Helwani and Ade Oladipo, Hearn shared his thoughts on the much-anticipated showdown: “Anyone that has movement is gonna cause Canelo problems, at this stage in his career. When [Canelo x Crawford] was first made, I thought that Canelo Alvarez would be a huge favorite, because of the size, but now, I really see it as a 50/50 fight.
“Honestly, probably favoring Crawford. I do think that this is the kind of fight that’s gonna motivate Canelo… will it be enough? Just got a sneaky feeling for Terence Crawford.”
While on the Ariel x Ade DAZN Boxing Show, Hearn gave his views on the involvement of Dan White on September 13: “The reality is, the promoter of this fight is Turki Alalshikh… All the decisions are made from His Excellency. I think it’s a good look to have Dana doing it. I mean, you’re kind of a guest promoter, that’s really what a lot of us are when we do Riyadh Season and Ring Magazine events.
“I think Dana’s got a much bigger profile than me in America, so I get the move… I think it’s a pretty cool move, really. I think it’s good for boxing.”
