Jack Catterall and Harlem Eubank Jr. made weight before their July 5 welterweight clash.
Catterall fights at welterweight for the first time since 2020, when he defeated Timo Schwarzkopf via a unanimous decision. His last fight was at 140, losing a unanimous decision against Arnold Barboza Jr. The loss cost him the WBO Interim Junior Welterweight Title, thus preventing him from facing the full champion, Teofimo Lopez. Eubank capped off a positive 2024, beating Nurali Erdogan and Tyrone McKenna, respectively. Those wins took his record to 21-0.
In chief support, Joe Cordina boxes Jaret Gonzalez Quiroz at lightweight. Cordina moves up to 135, having lost his IBF belt at 130 against Anthony Cacace. The failure to secure the Shakur Stevenson fight was a setback, as Shakur suffered a hand injury, leaving Cordina to pursue another bout. Cordina has said he wants to become a two-weight world champion, knowing that a win is vital for those aspirations. Catterall and Eubank both hit the scales at 146.5 pounds. Meanwhile, Cordina weighed 134.7 pounds, while Gonzalez weighed 133.45 pounds.
“We could have come back and chosen a different route, but these are the fights that excite me, the domestic clashes, and this is what I am here for. Harlem is undefeated, talented, and he’s going to come with everything. A few years ago, I was in his position, waiting for that opportunity and chomping at the bit, so this is his opportunity, but I am here to prove I’ve still got it.
“I’ve worked so hard up to this point, we had a stinker in the last fight, but I’ve doubled down, been training hard and I believe I am levels above him. I’m very confident, if he thinks he can come and knock me out he’s got a big problem in front of him and it’s going to end badly for him,” Catterall
“I’m more than ready, Sam Jones said what he said but he’s got it wrong over and over again, and this will be another occasion to add to that list. I’ve been training behind the scenes for 11 years, working on the art form and I believe I’m ready to go in there and show the world what I am capable of up at World level. This is the level I’ve built myself to and the level I was destined for when I entered the sport,” Harlem Eubank
