Collazo Pulls Out Of Sandoval Flyweight Title Fight

Oscar Collazo has withdrawn from his planned flyweight title challenge against Ricardo Sandoval after suffering a rib injury in training camp.

The 105-pound titleholder was set to move up in weight and face Sandoval for the WBC and WBA flyweight straps on Oct. 10, but the bout has been scrapped, according to a Golden Boy Promotions announcement reported by Bad Left Hook.

Schofield-Bahdi Remains As Main Event

The Golden Boy and Most Valuable Promotions card will proceed without the flyweight unification, with Floyd Schofield's vacant WBA lightweight title fight against Lucas Bahdi taking over as the headliner.

Collazo released a statement acknowledging the disappointment. "This is a fight I wanted deeply," he said. "As a boxer, I pushed for this matchup to happen because I wanted to face this challenge and because I know how much it means to everyone who has been waiting to see it."

The Puerto Rican champion apologized to Sandoval and his team, and indicated the fight would be rescheduled once he recovers from the rib injury sustained during camp.
