On April 26, at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Conor Benn (23-0, 14 KOs) and Chris Eubank Jr (34-3, 25 KOs) will finally collide in the main event of The Ring’s Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves fight card. DAZN Pay-Per-View will show the event in over 200 countries globally. Nigel Benn recently spoke with iFL TV about an intense sparring session with Benn Jr and IBF super middleweight world champion William Scull.
Benn vs Eubank Jr were due to fight in 2022 before two failed tests from Benn led to the high-profile cancellation of the fight. Since that situation, the rivalry between Eubank Jr and Benn has accelerated, with both making it clear the dislike is genuine. After months of speculation, Eubank Jr-Benn became a realistic possibility after the UK Anti-Doping and British Board of Boxing Control decided not to appeal the liting of Benn’s suspension.
Many figures in the sport and fight fans are offering their predictions for this grudge match. Nigel Benn spoke to iFL TV and gave a fascinating insight into how Conor has looked in sparring and revealed all about one particular session with Scull: “He walked in the gym, but I didn’t know who he was. It was this guy called William Scull, and he was sparring at around round four or five. He said, ‘Oh no, I need a minute,’” said Benn.
“Conor only does for 40 seconds. Then afterwards, about round four and five, you can ask everybody else. He was sitting down on the ring cushion on the ring rope because he was kind of tired.
“Come to round five six and seven. He started feeling the pace, then around eight Conor put it on him. What did he do? Stop sparring. William Scull.
“These all like light heavyweights. They weren’t at weight. But I’m telling you the truth. Conor put it on him, he couldn’t even come out for the eighth round,” added Benn.
