Dave Allen has taken shots from some of the best heavyweights in boxing.
‘The White Rhino’ has squared off against top-quality fighters, such as Dillian Whyte and Luis Ortiz.
Dave Allen has also sparred Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury, and Oleksandr Usyk, who was videoed badly rocking the Englishman during one of their training sessions.
The 33-year-old says none of them hit like the 6ft 5in Russian heavyweight he fought this weekend.
Dave Allen went the distance with Arslanbek Makhmudov in Sheffield, England, on Saturday night.
The away fighter had to survive an onslaught from Allen in round nine, but he was a clear winner after 36 minutes of action.
Makhmudov walked away with the WBA Inter-Continental heavyweight title thanks to 115-111, 116-110, and 117-109 scorecards from the three ringside judges.
Post-fight, Allen praised his opponent as the hardest puncher he’s ever come up against.
The English fan-favorite was proud that he was able to take Makhmudov’s shots and stay on his feet.
“He is the scariest-looking man I have ever seen, but he is a sweetheart,” Allen said.
“He was too big and too good. I have never been hit or hurt like that in my life.
“He had me hurt about five times, and Jamie [Moore, Allen’s trainer] wanted to pull me out.
“But I am a tough man. I have never been down.”
Dave Allen is refreshingly honest when discussing his boxing career, never making an excuse for losing.
Carl Froch recently found out Allen is just as honest when judging other people’s careers.
The Hall of Famer was told to his face that he’d lose if he took a comeback fight against ex-UFC star Darren Till, who called out Froch after putting Luke Rockhold to sleep at Misfits 22 in August.
“I thought Darren Till would beat you,” Allen said during a recent interview with Froch.
“Too young and fresh. I just think he’s just too big and too young.
“It’s too big for you.
“I know it’s his channel, but I can’t lie.”
