Arslanbek Makhmudov (20-2, 19 KOs) went into enemy territory and walked away with his hand raised in the main event at the Sheffield Arena in Sheffield, UK.

Makhmudov scored a unanimous decision over Dave Allen (24-7-2, 19 KOs) with the judges seeing this fight:111-105, 116-110, and 117-109. After the fight, Makhmudov was asked about a potential fight with Anthony Joshua, in which he answered, “I come for you, Anthony Joshua.” After this impressive victory, Makhmudov just might get the Joshua fight he is looking for in 2026.

In the opening round, Makhmudov wasted no time in applying pressure and landing his straight right hand. Allen, being smart, caught Makhmudov with a counter left hook, which sent his opponent staggering back. Makhmudov would recover and keep his left jab out there to the head and body of Allen for the rest of the round. In the second round, Makhmudov dominated the pace as his long left hooks and straight right hands buzzed Allen. It wasn’t until the end of the round that Allen would put together a small offensive rally, but the second belonged to Makhmudov.

Allen began to break Makhmudov down throughout the third round with his left hook to the body. At times, Allen allowed Makhmudov to get his offense off, but landed some clean counter shots, keeping Makhmudov honest throughout the round. Things slowed down in the fourth round as both fighters took a little breather after an intense first three rounds. Allen continued working on Makhmudov’s body, slowing his opponent down.

Allen really began to put pressure on Makhmudov as his combination of a left hook to the body and right uppercut had Makhmudov buzzed throughout the round. The momentum at this point of the fight was pointing towards Allen. In the sixth round, Makhmudov got back to his left jab and kept his distance just outside of mid-range. Allen landed a clean punch in spots, but not enough to hurt Makhmudov.

Allen had a bad seventh round as he spent most of it with the high guard. Makhmudov took advantage of this and landed a ton of combinations. Towards the end of the round, the referee took a point away from Makhmudov in a round he had clearly won. In the eighth round, Allen could not put his punches together, which allowed Makhmudov to land some clean right hands.

Allen needed one punch to wake the quiet crowd up, and he did that with a left hook that rocked Makhmudov. There would be some seconds that would pass, and Allen would land a huge overhand right that hurt Makhmudov badly, but his opponent was saved by the bell.

Makhmudov bounced back in the tenth round as Allen appeared exhausted from all of the punches thrown in the ninth. Makhmudov wasn’t throwing his punches with a ton of energy behind them, but it was just enough to keep Allen back. As much as Allen tried to work his way in close to his opponent, he was met by left jabs and straight right hands from Makhmudov. Allen had a small moment in the middle of the round, but Makhmudov was boxing well enough to keep Allen away.

Both fighters emptied the tank in the last round, and although Allen tried his best to land a big shot, he just couldn’t. In the middle of the round, the referee took another point from Makhmudov for holding, which interrupted the flow of the round. Makhmudov felt he had the fight in the bag, kept his distance, and settled with landing the straight right hand from a distance.
