The ‘Bronze Bomber’ Deontay Wilder (43-3-1, 42 KOs) is all set to showcase his brutal skillset in a sensational Saturday showdown against Chinese boxing superstar Zhilei Zhang (26-2-1, 21 KOs). With barely days remaining for the fight, it sure looks like Wilder has complete faith in his raw punch power. In fact, he believes that his right hand is an answer, not only to humans but also to extraterrestrials.
Wilder was talking at DAZN Boxing’s live. In conversation, he opened up about his recent loss to Joseph Parker (35-3, 23 KOs). Notably, Zhang had also lost to Parker in his last fight. He even revealed that the loss was a blessing in disguise. Wilder further mentioned that his raw punch power would ensure that the same isn’t repeated in his fight against Zhang.
“I’ll put my right hand up against anyone. If I land this against the flesh of any face, whether that’s a human, whether that’s an animal, or whether it’s an extraterrestrial. Something’s gonna happen,” Wilder said.
With 42 of his 43 wins coming via a knockout, it wouldn’t be wrong to believe that his power is in fact, a gift from above. “You know I’ve just been blessed with the gift of power. God has blessed me tremendously,” Wilder added.
With a loss already looming over his head and with the fight date inching closer, it sure looks like Wilder is looking to take home a victory or bid adieu to the sport. In a conversation with Seconds Out, Wilder revealed why his retirement might become a reality if he loses to Zhang.
“I don’t know. I’ve had a successful career, and this is a do-or-die moment for me,” Wilder said. He shed light on the fact that the heavyweight division would be incomplete without him. But, he’d let Saturday’s fight make the final decision.
“This could be the end of the career. This could be the final goodbye, the farewell of Deontay Wilder, if I lose. If I win, I go on to bigger or better things,” he said.
