Once the world’s most feared boxer, Wilder, 39, held the WBC title from 2015 to 2020. It seemed as though Deontay Leshun Wilder, the former heavyweight champion, could walk away from boxing for good after back-to-back poor performances.

Instead on June 27th he returns to the ring against Tyrrell Herndon in Wichita, Kansas. Expecting to reignite his career, Deontay Wilder is to face Tyrrell Herndon in a 10-round heavyweight bout at Charles Koch Arena. On Instagram Wilder said, “God will give you the victory if you give Him glory. What has just begun is the war”

After 43 fights going undefeated, Wilder successfully defended the belt 10 times and captured the WBC championship, losing four of five. It was against Tyson Fury 39-year-old American, Wilder’s biggest rival that the first two losses came. In 2022, Wilder got back and won Robert Helenius with a knockout in the first round, which was in 43 career victories was Wilder’s 42nd.

When he faced Joseph Parker in December 2023, he had a chance to get back into the title picture. Wilder not having been a big volume puncher, only landed 39 punches in 12 rounds and ended in a unanimous decision loss.

Towards the fifth round TKO loss, Wilder was largely passive and did not land more than five punches per round against Zhilei Zhang and in his most recent fight. By facing Herndon, he is turning several steps down in the level of the opponent.

Faced with making an important decision on his career after that setback against Zhang, Wilder 39, from Alabama appears decided to move forward with his career after signing a deal to appear. More than ever focused in a long time, Wilder said that he was grateful and God had moved mountains for him and for this matter, the world should be that he is coming.
