Eddie Hearn really wants to see Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) face Jake Paul (12-1, 7 KOs), and there are no two words about it. With the duo set to face each other at the Keseya Center in December, the Matchroom boss is anticipating a fight that might potentially see boiling tempers and evaporating careers.

Talking at Matchroom’s ‘Flash Knockdown’, Hearn expressed his confidence in the matchup, calling it a “straightforward” and exciting fight for the fans.
“We think the fight is very straightforward. There’s a lot of people that are very excited about the thought of Anthony Joshua almost evaporating Jake Paul from the actual boxing world,” he said.
Hearn is undoubtedly in awe of Paul’s mindset, admitting that he is a fighter with a lot of “heart”. A factor that was evident in how he took the criticism for his earlier choice of opponents and levelled up by picking Joshua. He has stepped into a “whole new stratosphere” by putting up an offer, as Hearn would like to put it.
Hearn stated that the offer was financially significant, which, in turn, was extremely enticing to the team. In fact, he even revealed that it was in line with what he had in mind for Joshua.
“We were planning potentially a little eight-round runout later this year. And now the eight-round runout will be against Jake Paul for more money than we could have ever dreamed of,” he said. “So, the serious stuff for us, as you heard from Turki Alalshikh, begins in 2026. But at the same time, this was really an offer we couldn’t refuse. And, it’s a massive event. And, as AJ said in his press conference press release, no mercy! You know, this ain’t no exhibition. This is a real heavyweight fight.”
While Hearn might have praised Paul here, he certainly was doubtful about the latter’s skills barely a few days prior. When asked by iFL TV about Paul’s boxing skills, Hearn just had one thing to say.
“He’s not an influencer, he’s a boxer. He’s just not very good. He’s boxed boxers; I don’t think he’s very good. What is he, a top 60 cruiserweight in the world? He’s alright, he’s going to get flattened,” he said.
