Eddie Hearn Warns Jake Paul of ‘Double Nyquil Time’

Jake Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) is preparing himself for a world of pain on December 19, or so says Eddie Hearn. As the ‘Problem Child’ gears up for a showdown against Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs), the Matchroom boss remains optimistic that while the former might make a lot of money on fight night, the end might just not be what he anticipates.

In conversation with The Stomping Ground, Hearn stated that Joshua is not just looking to end the fight; he’s looking to end it explosively.

“I’m looking at AJ during the face-off, and I’m seeing a guy that isn’t messing around. And he won’t mess around on December 19. He will go out there with bad intentions, and he’ll end this fight nice and early,” he said.

This is in contrast to what Paul hopes to achieve on fight night. In fact, during the recent face-off, he even predicted the fight ending via knockout in the fifth round.

There’s no denying that Joshua has a diabolical punch power that would give Paul a run for his money. The face-off also saw the sheer size difference between the duo, with Joshua dwarfing Paul. While size and experience might be on Joshua’s side, the far younger Paul might push Joshua to expose his age-related vulnerabilities. Unlike Paul, Joshua does not have the luxury of losing the fight, as that would severely undermine his credibility as a fighter.

However, Hearn is confident in Joshua’s skill as a boxer, even going as far as claiming that Paul is making a huge mistake by picking the fight with him.

“I think it was a bit of a bad decision. He’s going to make a load of money, but he could get sparked out seriously, and he will get sparked out seriously on December 19. But the world will be tuning in to watch,” he said. “You’re fighting a world-class heavyweight, who, as soon as he hits you on the chin clean, it’s double Nyquil time, tucked in with a little with a little pillow.”

“I Want Him To Cut Me Up”

Meanwhile, it sure seems like Hearn might not get that satisfaction. Friday’s presser saw an extremely confident version of Paul, who was, in fact, looking forward to the pain.

“This is gonna be fun. I want him to cut me up, I want him to break my face, but guess what? He’s gonna have to kill me to stop me, and I’m ready to die, seriously ready to die in the ring to win this fight,” he said.
