On July 12, at the Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York, Edgar Berlanga vs Hamzah Sheeraz will headline the Ring III card live on DAZN PPV. The main event will be a WBC super middleweight eliminator, and ahead of this highly anticipated clash. Berlanga appeared on a recent episode of the Big Fight Weekend podcast and discussed his upcoming fight against Sheeraz. It’s fair to say Berlanga is feeling confident for July 12.
Edgar Berlanga vs Hamzah Sheeraz is a vital part of the explosive Ring III fight card. When speaking to Rafael, Berlanga was asked what he thought of Sheeraz vs Carlos Adames. Berlanga did not hold back: “He lost that fight. He got gifted because he’s in Saudi. He has Papi Turki with him. Tuki’s trying to push him to be this big, big, big thing, because that’s his baby. They scored it a draw, but he got his ass whooped bro.”
“When competition stepped up, he folded,” added Berlanga.
Rafael asked Berlanga (23-1, 18 KOs) about the physical advantages Sheeraz (21-0-1, 17 KOs) has over him and if that will make a difference on fight night: “He ain’t gonna have nothing. Anything he tries to do, I’m breaking him down. He’s a tree. I’m cutting him down.
“He dont got more IQ than me. He don’t got more foot movement than me. He don’t got more head movement than me. Me and his power mine don’t add up either. My power is out of this world, and imma beat him mentally with the mind.
“I don’t care what he got going on, I’m unpredictable, that’s the problem with me,” said Berlanga.
Rafael also asked Berlanga about their back-and-forths on social media and at the press conferences: “I know it’s personal. You seen what Turki put out. If Sheeraz gets knocked out, it’s going to be a disaster for my plans that I have for him, so it’s personal. I’m taking it very personal,” said Berlanga.
“Once I destroy this dude, I’m going to become one of the biggest stars in boxing,” Berlanga said.
