Edgar Berlanga and Hamzah Sheeraz face off at 168 in their July 12 clash as we preview the upcoming fight.
Berlanga is looking to enter back into big-time boxing following his first loss, which he experienced against Canelo Alvarez. He bounced back from that with a stoppage win against Jonathan González Ortiz in his last fight, as he aims to secure the Canelo rematch. Meanwhile, Sheeraz is coming up from 160 pounds to make his debut at super middleweight. He secured a controversial split draw against Carlos Adames in a WBC Middleweight Title fight. Most of the boxing community felt Sheeraz had lost, while there were also claims he could not continue to make weight at 160.
“If he comes to fight, you’re going to see. It’s different. My power is not like [Austin “Ammo” Williams]. … July 12, I’m going to hurt this dude. I’m not taking you lightly. I know you’re coming because Turki got a plan for you. He told you, ‘You beat Berlanga, I’m giving you Canelo.’ You’re going straight to Canelo after this. I’m your Canelo right now,” Berlanga
“Empty cans make the most noise. I always say it and I stick by it. All the talkers in my career that I fought, you’ve seen what’s happened. It ignites a fire in me. How much do you want to bet I’ll stand in that ring with you? I’ll stand in that ring with you. I’m coming to your backyard. I can box. … You know I’m coming. I’m coming with everything. I’m leaving everything in that ring,” Sheeraz
