Chris Eubank Jr. reacted to his haters by reading their X posts ahead of his fight with Conor Benn on April 26.
Eubank is facing the biggest fight of his career as he seeks to live up to the rivalry set up by his father, Eubank Sr., against Nigel Benn. While Eubank faces a battle in the ring with the 160-pound weight and ten-pound rehydration clause, he also faces a battle on social media. There is a perception that Eubank comes across as arrogant, which has rubbed up fans the wrong way. However, heading into this fight, Eubank’s popularity has increased. This has partly been based on the damage to Benn’s reputation due to his failed VADA tests for Clomiphene. However, Eubank still has critics, as he took some time out to react to some damning posts about him.
Eubank’s response: “I am many things but a fool is not one of them. The only fool here is Conor Benn. He tried to fool the entire boxing public saying that he had performance-enhancing drugs in his system because he ate contaminated eggs. That is the only fool in this game right now, not me.”
Eubank’s response: “That is a big question. How am I going to be on the night after having to only rehydrate for 10 lbs the day after a weigh-in. I believe I’m going to be more ferocious than ever because I’m going to be hungry. Im going to be thirsty, I’m going to be ready to go in there and get this guy out of there.”
Eubank’s response: “I’ve never been panned before. The fact that you think it’s going to be glorious is a little bit hurtful. But guess what, being hurt and underestimated is something I’ve dealt with my whole career. We’ll find out who’s the one that’s going to get panned. I think you’ll find that it’s not going to be me.”
Eubank’s response: “If that’s true then I don’t actually see that as a bad thing. I’m probably impressing other people right, so I actually see that as a compliment. Boxing is a complicated sport. There’s nothing simple about getting in there and fighting another man. I wish it was as simple as you make it seem. Don’t worry, it will be a wrap. I’m going to go out there and take this guy out.”
Eubank’s response: “That’s strange. I’ve never been called a runt before. I think I’m a little bit too big and strong to be a runt. I have been called weird, many a time, by many different people. I guess I’m not your everyday average bloke. I don’t think I’m boring, but one thing I will say is the fight most definitely will not be boring. So tune in my friend.”
Eubank’s response: “I’m in the gym every day, my friend. I have my little moments on social media but for the most part my day is filled with eating good food and kicking ass in the gym.”
